House Update

We are just moving RIGHT along!! wahoo! SO on March 24th... we had this done... half of the floor joists (I think that is the right technical term, but there are so many that i get them confused.) Here's the unfinished half- unfinished that day only because the wrong length of wood was delivered. So later that day, the wood guy came to pick up the wrong wood and drop off the new wood.
Here is the finished floor... this was done on March 25th and this is what the addition looked like during my birthday party. right now you are looking at our master bedroom. It.is.huge. wow.
this is the other side... a hallway, 2 bathrooms and 2 closets go in this space.
Over the weekend a plumber came and did the "rough-in plumbing" (basically the pipes that go under the house and in the walls. I forgot to get a picture of it.

Then we had 4 inspections, and we passed them all so we got to lay the floor and WALK on it! that was a big deal for me!!

our bedroom...

The other half (see the pipes? the near one is for a sink the far one is a toliet. cool :))
Here I am standing at the far end of our bedroom looking back at our house. You can see both sink pipes from this view.
Yesterday I came home to this...

It's really hard to tell in any of these pictures what anything is...

but here is the hallway- this will lead you into our bedroom
the bedroom
the master bathroom. a tub on the right -from where I am standing to the long board on the ground on the right. then the shower from the long board to the short board. Then you can barely see a tube popping out of the floor, that is a toliet in it's own private room.

then two vanities on the left and a door to our HUGE closet in between.
that middle space is our huge closet. really hard to tell though.

that's about it...I didn't try to take pics of the other bathroom or closet- just kinda weird with the boards only.

Today they are putting on the roof boards and then putting the windows in!!

I think tonight is our LAST night in our current master bedroom! Exciting and SAD at the same time!! It's been a great house just the way it is... but it will be EVEN better and will have room for MORE people in the family (in time, in time)

Bringing in a new Decade!

Why are all of these people at our house??? And what are they so happy about???

It's ME! I'm turning 30! (okay, so I turned 30 a long time ago- like 2 weeks ago- but who says you can't celebrate for a whole month??)

And what a sweet Hubby I have! he planned me the BEST 30th birthday party!! Nope, not a surprise, but full of my favorites- and very well thought out!!
We had a party in the backyard with all of the construction :) Celebrating the mess!
Decorations!! (no I didn't decorate for my own birthday party? why would you think that? okay, I did. I LOVE decorating! so this was a TREAT! I didn't clean or make food- just decorate! What a blast!)

Tables every where! We had about 30 people (for a 30th birthday!)
I filled bowls with my favorite candies- Cadbury mini eggs and M&M pretzels. YUM! and look at my cute new anthropologie plate- LOVE IT!! Yes, I bought it for myself as a birthday gift! how did you know??
Fun girls!!
YUMMY FOOD!! Green chile chicken enchiladas and yummy rice
salad, fruit, and all of the fixings

DESSERT! we call this "Sin on a plate." We had it the night we got engaged and I've been thinking about it ever since. It's that delicious roll filled with whipped cream, then add fresh berries and amazing chocolate fudge sauce! WOW! in fact, we have a whole log left over and in the freezer- I'm hungry now!!
Singing happy birthday. What are you supposed to do during this time? I never know. I'm always embarrased. Everyone just looks at you.
I get to work with her every day. fun times.
Ty even planned for us to have GAMES! he hates games, I LOVE GAMES! So we had cornhole and washers! Awesome! and the weather was PERFECT! thank you Lord!

Joey and I played washers, MO style, and for the record- I destroyed him.
Oh yeah, that's my little brother. That was the one surprise of the weekend, Ty flew Joey in from LA as a surprise- PERFECT!! I loved it!!
The gifts! so sweet. not expected! so fun! and look at all of the cute wrappings!!
Sunday after church- a quick bite to eat before taking Joey to the airport.
My two favorite men. Love them both.

Ahh... I am now 30. And the parties are over. Time to act 30. I'm so old. I'm so smart. Kidding. but that's what I tell people, being 30 makes you smart :)

Changes

I came home from school one day to find this...
part of my deck was missing and all of these stakes were in the yard. why?
because we are making changes to our home, BIG changes.
We are adding on a master suite and a new hallway guest bathroom. WAHOO!!

Each stake represents 1 pier for the foundatoin. Those windows are from our current master bedroom. The windowon the left will be the new hallway bathroom area. The window on the right will become a walk in closet for that bedroom. The master suite will be behind all of that.

This is where my new master bathroom and closet will be. (not an interesting picture or blog post, but good to have for future reference)
This is the new master bedroom!! at the end we will have a bay window with a window seat looking out to the backyard!! The whole addition will run along side of the deck. We talked about having french doors walk out to the deck, and while it would look nice, with Ty traveling, we decided NOT to have doors into the bedroom. So maybe someone else will do it one day.

My once beautiful sun room table is now "command central." Full of plans, permits, measuring tape, and anything else my father-in-law leaves around the house (I just move it all to this table.) (My father in law is our General contractor. and he LOVES this stuff! I swear he is most happy when he has some sort of building project going on! He complains about waiting on inspectors, but secretly I think he loves it.)

First day of spring break, 8:00 am... this guy was in my backyard for 4 hours... digging HUGE holes for the foundation.

LOTS of holes!! what a mess!
More holes.

When we went to Florida, these pics were still in my camera. The 4th grade boy that we were visiting was looking at my camera and got to this picture and blurts out, "Nice hole!" Only a boy would find this picture SOOO interesting.

Then the next day this guy pulled up in our driveway!! I was sitting in the living room with the front windows opened and noticed all of the walkers staring at us! LOVE it! Makes me feel "important." Not really. But when I go walking/running and see construction trucks, I get really nosy too- so I can totally relate! I should have invited them around back so they could really know what was going on.

The holes are now filled in with concrete and steel poles. (does anyone else find this process as cool as I do? Or is this SUPER boring??)
How does that hold my house up? I don't understand.
Ahh... I see... next step- they add these cardboard tubes around the steel rods, then fill in with more concrete so that there is a concrete cylinder to support the house.
The wood around the edges is very scientifically placed so that it is level and squared off (something the rest of our 1938 home is not.)
They had to tear off the bottom pieces of siding so they could find the height of the current floor so that the addition floor is at the same level- so complicated!! When they did this, they found that the boards below our current 1938 bathroom are COMPLETELY rotted! ha! That's what I smell all of the time! So they are replacing those - actually you can see on the far left of this picture, they already replaced some of them (see the new light colored wood).
Today the framer was coming to put the floor in.
there has also been a lot of plumbing work already done... moving "clean out tubes" and "sewer lines." things I know nothing about and would never even see, but must get done.
Can't wait to see the next step!!
I am trying to take pictures from the same spot on the deck each day so that I can really see the changes.
On the inside of the house, I have been frantically relocated MOST of our belongings because eventually we will have to move into our front guest bedroom and the current master bedroom will be dusty and the worker entrance to the addition. The house was already small with very little storage, now I'm moving out of our dressers and closet- crazy!!
That's all for now!
