Write it... Just like it sounds...

When this was turned in the other day (kindergarten, remember.)... I started to read it out loud, then paused and said, " Please read it to me."
This is what came out....

"You know who I'm talking about?"
"Who are you talking about?"
"Fred and Red."

The assignment was "use the rhyming words Fred and red." I LOVE how she just wrote a conversation!! She wrote it just like it sounds. Awesome!

Fellow Fan

One thing Texas does NOT lack is Texas pride! Down here... EVERYBODY loves Texas! And although there are HUGE rivalries between favorite sports teams... you can guarantee everybody loves one Texas team or another.
So... to walk into class this morning and see this....

Wow! That just blew me away!! I LOVE IT!! A fellow Cardinals fan!! Oh how my heart soars within me!

Awesome Table Settings

Recently (like 2 months ago... but I've been a horrible blogger, so let's pretend it was recently) Recently I attended (and "modeled" ha) in a mother-daughter fashion show at church. It was my first time going to this event, and it was great! I was totally shocked by the coolest tables...
The room is HUGE!! So, they have women volunteer to "host" a table. And her job is to decorate the table - in ANY style she wants! So the ENTIRE banquet room is full of VERY UNIQUE tables!!

The women can bring in anything they want to decorate with and they have full access to the churches dishes, silverware, glasses, mugs, etc. Or they can use their own.
Here are some of my favorite tables (all very repeatable. But I really really liked the idea of DIFFERENT tables at the same party- so fun!)
The Valentine's Table The Vintage Table
My personal Fav
complete with a quilt for a table cloth, old hats, an iron "bodice" in the center, pearls dangling from the bodice, old frames, pretty ivory and light pink flowers... clear plates with a vintage handkerchief under it (a different style for every plate)

and vintage aprons hanging from every chair!!
Does it get any cuter??
makes me want to start collecting random vintage fabrics :)
just what I need... another collection
The "Christian" table
I just said that because I see a cross in the middle The Rose Table
Can you tell I'm making up these names as I go?

This lady said her daughter recently got married and did a "candy bar" at the wedding. Apparently they had LOTS of leftover candy, so she brought it all here! She based 2 table designs on the candy colors (and then added extra bowls of candy all around the room.)

So the center piece is various glass vases full of candy and gold tulle
And she tied gold tulle in bows on the backs of the chairs.
It was very pretty- and made me hungry. a perfect table setting
A close up of the center piece

The "Garden" table
another favorite
I love the shiny green table cloth and shiny silver napkins. I love the potted rose in the middle.

But I mostly love the adorable scrapbooky name plates. Oh and I just happened to find one of a Kelly (no that was not my table)
The Sunflower/Tea Table
I love the BOOKS! who would have thought books could look so cool as a centerpiece!
The Leopard Table
This is where I sat.
The lighting in this picture is terrible. but there was a beautiful tall lamp in the middle, surrounded by leopard print material and flowers and AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS dark chocolate covered graham crackers at every seat. yum!!
The lady who did my table also did this one...
The "pink" table
I love the pink and yellow rock candies in the tea glasses- I think that adds such a great pop to the table! and the pretty green fabric in the middle is luxurious.
So... just wanted to share with you some neat ideas for fun and easy and different table settings. And to release the "pressure" that everything has to always MATCH! (I needed to remind myself of that!)

Spring Break- Clearwater

For spring break we headed over to Clearwater, FL... not only to visit the beautiful beach and to celebrate our birthdays, but mostly to visit some dear friends. It was a refreshing time and I wish I lived there!

I didn't take many pictures at all... just lived in the moments of good conversation and fun play with their sweet boys. So here are a very few pics from the trip...
Ty and I on my 29th birthday at lunch
So fitting... we ate lunch at a restaurant called "Kelly's"! It was delish!
It was very windy and a bit chilly on my birthday, so we spent the day shopping in the cute downtown area of Oldsmar. I purchased a red necklace (been looking for one) and a fun Christmas ornament to remember the trip. We had lunch at Kelly's, then headed to our friend's house. We spent the evening watching the first games of March Madness- so fun and exciting! and Nikki made the most delicious birthday dinner and Mocha Cake! I felt so spoiled!!

Friday was Ty's 27th birthday... and the weather was LOVELY!
So we hit the beach!
We sat for about an hour, then decided we were starving.
So we ate lunch at a place called Frenchy's. Okay... our friends, Chris and Nikki, took us there for lunch just 2 days earlier, and it was so good, we just HAD to go back! The first time we went, we ate their famous Grouper Sandwiches- seriously amazing. We wanted to try something else the second time, so we both ordered the fish tacos. Since the tacos come a la carte, we opted for an appetizer - chili cheese fries. Let me just say this was the largest plate of chili cheese fries in the world... and we ate a TON of them!! (they were amazing!) so by the time our delicious tacos arrived, we had a hard time eating them.
We then felt a very STRONG need to go for a LONG walk on the beach (due to over consumption of cheese fries)

We left the beach in the afternoon and went driving around... here are some photos I snapped from the car. It really is a beautiful area. Wish I had taken more pictures.

The birthday boy... on his phone... typical

the typical shot of myself. I am a dork.

Do palm trees ever get boring??

After cleaning up, we headed back over to Chris and Nikki's house for more March Madness, time with the whole family, carry-out dinner of pizza and Greek salads (with Greek potato salad on them- awesome) and a cute dessert of vanilla wafers with homemade icing and sprinkles in the shape of a 27.
Ty with all the boys... holding Wil, Cal, Grant, and Landry in front.
The boys QUICKLY dug in after we snapped the photos! No messing around! Get me SUGAR!
Still deciding on the best cookies.
Ty, Chris, and Cal- talking and watching basketball games... this was most of our trip.
But it was so relaxing and fun! it was absolutely perfect!
I spent most of my time with Nikki and 2 year old Wil- who recently discovered a football app on the ipod touch and has become slightly obsessed. It was VERY entertaining!
Saturday we were blessed with tickets to the PGA Transitions Tournament- it was GORGEOUS outside and such a fun day!
We finished up with another yummy dinner and ice cream dessert (lactose free for me) compliments of Nikki.
Sunday we went to church where Chris is the pastor...
Ty helped pick up Wil from the nursery. He was already looking for the ipod.
The boys... Grant, Landry, and Cal.
Do they get any better looking?? I don't think so.
We all had lunch together... then we sadly headed home.
it was a great trip... I loved every second of it. Wish I was still there.
I did my kindergarten report cards on the plane ride home. It helped me get back into the swing of things. Thinking about each kid as I filled out their report cards really made me miss them...
But then again... I do love those palm trees...

Maybe I Should Rethink This Dress...

Here's a picture of me--- that I had my newly diagnosed ADHD student take of me. Please don't look at the blurriness... just notice the dress.

I bought this brand new dress at the Banana outlet last Sunday. I love it! And today is the first day I'm wearing it. So here's what happened...

Little Girl Student comes up and hugs me, "Mrs. Sawyer, I love you. Are you having a baby?"

"well, no. Why? Do I look fat?"

"Yes," she replies as she pats my tummy.

Maybe this dress isn't so cute after all.
