I do love a good tablescape! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Always have. always will.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Haven't fully decided my plan in the future when we start actually eating dinner at the table as a family. Any one out there have a good solution for keeping a table looking good and set, but still using it nightly? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well... while little buddy is still eating mostly "mama milk" and from a high chair, and hubby and I are eating mostly in front of the tv... I will continue to set the table and enjoy it :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So this was our table since March. Haven't been changing it up as often as I used to. Something about a baby taking up most of my time :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And I was ready to change it for fall so I decided to take some pictures... (I'll share the fall one soon!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkW-LnbQopq7ccNTbmUw9Ip0dbkmhsDogi9WGTl8daY09sdgkx2lwPP76JcgzAaP-4_0l4c4CGOfp5pXyIuQkYWvgMWgoU6xaueeIxwMrUgrK4T_o0mvzlQslnb6z_xQGS69eBcGK4wMc/s1600/IMG_2593.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkW-LnbQopq7ccNTbmUw9Ip0dbkmhsDogi9WGTl8daY09sdgkx2lwPP76JcgzAaP-4_0l4c4CGOfp5pXyIuQkYWvgMWgoU6xaueeIxwMrUgrK4T_o0mvzlQslnb6z_xQGS69eBcGK4wMc/s320/IMG_2593.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
My mom and I found this awesome tablecloth in Marshall's. Can't beat that!<br />
Since this technically started as my EASTER table... I decided to use the birds on the table. Still not sure why birds equaled Easter to me, since Easter usually means eggs, bunnies, or Jesus. But I went with birds. And I liked it :)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVedPyBKJaDmv3Jju8-UfZv51oWu0mpGfzIMfID02uY8zUgrC7BuOhTR-3CBVm8p6kp_NqesmHN9KX8Htz8hv4NXoVw_2sMaGiC1xGzkAzuN5CF-TkOqPDL6TXuIdUsAacVKpNawS0GnE/s1600/IMG_2594.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVedPyBKJaDmv3Jju8-UfZv51oWu0mpGfzIMfID02uY8zUgrC7BuOhTR-3CBVm8p6kp_NqesmHN9KX8Htz8hv4NXoVw_2sMaGiC1xGzkAzuN5CF-TkOqPDL6TXuIdUsAacVKpNawS0GnE/s320/IMG_2594.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
And since I only have 3 birds, I did an asymmetrical centerpiece. Totally a new experience for me. But I really liked it!<br />
<br />
The place settings... wooden charger (Williams-Sonoma), napkin (Crate and Barrel), Blue plate and peacock plate (World Market).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhlUip4sOG86UyG0HKbsHnjyKJN4p0DWxpy4JDfowKtus01or0vvu72aiefSNSBzVcmOAbqpeDKbNH7rtzTwmqF1j8qLpkl6PqTvsx1lzqndy_QniC80bORo2qYEW3Uw2-vruLxijL9zw/s1600/IMG_2595.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhlUip4sOG86UyG0HKbsHnjyKJN4p0DWxpy4JDfowKtus01or0vvu72aiefSNSBzVcmOAbqpeDKbNH7rtzTwmqF1j8qLpkl6PqTvsx1lzqndy_QniC80bORo2qYEW3Uw2-vruLxijL9zw/s320/IMG_2595.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
Here's the other end of the table... I used my green Anthro glasses to tie into the green birdies.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNc0hEhsYv9niWBMBkayGfJ4Au6-Lf_zXNODzK0wO4qjfIF3KNV7V-lJP4smLZ6yh_Cy84fPnd7hE4wdZBmcqshAT-thufgEwPjaAw46yjr3TgD-PbKzqyipmdFXcU8kMRpEYZT5zaMfE/s1600/IMG_2596.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNc0hEhsYv9niWBMBkayGfJ4Au6-Lf_zXNODzK0wO4qjfIF3KNV7V-lJP4smLZ6yh_Cy84fPnd7hE4wdZBmcqshAT-thufgEwPjaAw46yjr3TgD-PbKzqyipmdFXcU8kMRpEYZT5zaMfE/s320/IMG_2596.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
The "table runner" was actually two blue place mats covered in my great-grandma's handmade doilies. And then my favorite turquoise pottery bowl as the very middle. never put anything in it (except large bags of tortilla chips a few times). But I don't mind the look of an empty bowl, especially this one.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

So that was my Easter, end of spring, summer Tablescape! <br /><br />I am loving my new fall one! Totally changed it up this year! Kelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15105225551414964624noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6084373234857005468.post-59183193351146458612013-09-08T21:21:00.001-05:002013-09-08T21:22:17.699-05:00Summer Chalkboard Art<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Found this amazing chalkboard earlier this summer in Canton, TX. Love the shape, love the size, LOVE the price! guess how much... $14! Yep, Canton rocks!<img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzrWsMww0d6FQii78RULoKgDg-HjDeArmISQq48IWzIhe1oOV4tJMet7IWH5cVDZKmioKilKAVbimJ3-0lJEmU8bPCRhsBA0uIFDnkSVEocO03KqBrASaijutk0hkxFBG5SBgWQNMGb8I/s320/IMG_2591.JPG" width="320" /></div>
It doesn't have a hook for hanging on the wall, which is fine, because I like the look of leaning it. Plus who knows how long I'll want it here by the front door.<br />
<br />
Due to pinterest, I've been totally inspired by cool chalkboard art. Now, I am NOT an artist. But I can appreciate great art and love cool fonts. So I made a pinterest board called <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/kelley_sawyer/chalkboard-art-ideas/" target="_blank">Chalkboard Art Ideas</a> . I love looking at this for inspiration, but my inspiration is "what fonts are easy enough for me to copy?" And this is what I came up with for the summer...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA88TsNiH_COWl4bPB08vvdOY9xNCAF2tg3D8KjuAs8xIYz5PjLmKyTvVfMHirRRTW8ZEAPRb-H2YeDN8cW-GVJwk_G_qsb6oV6hmdC6-InTXDIrq5jTBXk2LOL5LhK-5krFFdFsUZZCI/s1600/IMG_2590.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA88TsNiH_COWl4bPB08vvdOY9xNCAF2tg3D8KjuAs8xIYz5PjLmKyTvVfMHirRRTW8ZEAPRb-H2YeDN8cW-GVJwk_G_qsb6oV6hmdC6-InTXDIrq5jTBXk2LOL5LhK-5krFFdFsUZZCI/s320/IMG_2590.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuhTk9YrIstYGeEYkjjuhAE24xK9GVAZ0YlQ4GYReWU48zKPduswblv_KkjPrgOLl4CNglLd5pT3Ot6W5sqY2tDaD_cLUx0cOvX2aqrDBkVS7uXjosiK6zfxCgKb4wH1wg7UI-1lRh3X0/s1600/IMG_2592.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuhTk9YrIstYGeEYkjjuhAE24xK9GVAZ0YlQ4GYReWU48zKPduswblv_KkjPrgOLl4CNglLd5pT3Ot6W5sqY2tDaD_cLUx0cOvX2aqrDBkVS7uXjosiK6zfxCgKb4wH1wg7UI-1lRh3X0/s320/IMG_2592.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
I loved it! Brought me joy each time I looked at it! <br />
<br />
And then the calendar turned to September... and I had to change it. It's time for FALL, even if the temperatures are still in the 100's most days. boo. <br />
<br />
Knowing that I probably won't have time to change this for awhile, I decided to go more "thanksgiving theme" rather than just fall....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUYNgiyC3KV43Gp6hIRq2V2DJIH-4C26VDpdgIO1T8QJSseDh_j6RrZXJe8g47gHPvcdGVYPduwEilHDg5jsaiMUC0Ya7XCa28FGWmABR0J7fcJEvmacujF3rydq0A8yiINshncuWwJ40/s1600/mobile+uploads+007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUYNgiyC3KV43Gp6hIRq2V2DJIH-4C26VDpdgIO1T8QJSseDh_j6RrZXJe8g47gHPvcdGVYPduwEilHDg5jsaiMUC0Ya7XCa28FGWmABR0J7fcJEvmacujF3rydq0A8yiINshncuWwJ40/s320/mobile+uploads+007.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
I was quite proud of myself for including a little "banner" thing. I always practice on paper a few times before doing it on the chalkboard. And the true chalkboard artists talk about making a grid and printing a template from publisher, etc. Umm.. no. I freehand and I don't use a ruler even. So it is what it is, off center usually and not quite straight. But I'm okay with it.<br />
<br />
After living with the board for a day (and looking at it to admire it often), I decided I needed to move the "give" and "to the"... so here's the final look...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnQDLBjz431x0UGIlzxBeTkaVa4U3TthVGqSzda-bQtN2gOA-fAEjLGgElZ4jnzRfcsac8C_IhAtC6Iz7gJNsUOrC3OfBG62GMI4GbkPdZpvnw5RK3G4hYW_q_qkEypFzWjL-x2ocDOFY/s1600/mobile+uploads+020.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnQDLBjz431x0UGIlzxBeTkaVa4U3TthVGqSzda-bQtN2gOA-fAEjLGgElZ4jnzRfcsac8C_IhAtC6Iz7gJNsUOrC3OfBG62GMI4GbkPdZpvnw5RK3G4hYW_q_qkEypFzWjL-x2ocDOFY/s320/mobile+uploads+020.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
By the way... in the time I took to focus on my chalkboard art... (and therefore ignore my child)... I looked up to find my non-mobile, non-crawler, off of the blanket next to me, on the hard wood floor, across the room, and pulling on the drawer under the tv...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Looks like I need to start baby-proofing... and paying closer attention :)Kelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15105225551414964624noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6084373234857005468.post-6005142480412043932013-08-24T21:21:00.001-05:002013-08-24T21:21:36.515-05:00Valentine's Day Ideas<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Found these photos from Valentine's Day (of 2012!!). They were fun ideas then and are fun ideas now. Even if it is the middle of August, 2013. I'm still going to post, because why not?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For Valentine's Day 2012 I had my 7th grade Bible study girls over for a fun luncheon! I had a blast decorating in all things pink and red! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(FYI for Valentine's Day 2013, I had a 1 week old. Hubby and I left the baby with my in-laws for our first time out on our own. We went on a date to... Target! Because my coffee maker broke that morning and you can imagine that a new mom MUST have her coffee!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Okay - back to fun girly pink and red decorations.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Silver chargers, red swirly paper plates, heart napkins, red table cloth, heart fabric as a table runner, heart cut out made with a heart punch</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwJMvh17Xt9bDgdU2faUfmQoIf6CsACcMA6d3bvNfDfVMAdrM4jGux0TSc7k0mKSectYpG88om-2EGDpDJYF094vmFBu_X1qWNhl5-Q3oU-7gd9dTpCeF7koEkXdsb0DXUNXJd7-NpCZA/s1600/IMG_9727.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwJMvh17Xt9bDgdU2faUfmQoIf6CsACcMA6d3bvNfDfVMAdrM4jGux0TSc7k0mKSectYpG88om-2EGDpDJYF094vmFBu_X1qWNhl5-Q3oU-7gd9dTpCeF7koEkXdsb0DXUNXJd7-NpCZA/s320/IMG_9727.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I used paint chips of reds and pinks and punched hearts. Then I hot glued them to a red thread and glued a heart on the back of each as well so it would be double sided. Hung it from my chandelier. I LOVED this! It was also the first decoration hubby asked me to take down.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

For the centerpiece, I used my antique candle holder with red candles, on top of a white tray full of Valentine's candies. (this was the girls favorite part of the whole day- there was no candy left in the end.)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnwaBMdTxH-Wb5sQP3sTfertOL0tU-qLdWwE-IjTPVS8mokphyaFwARGTmhIbfy-Wl4Le5sUAeYxKfn8wGKtLwU2d44QVRTU2ciGrKaJ4mQSZbnZZmncARjoYyiwxigiTtdsRx19wsHQc/s1600/IMG_9731.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnwaBMdTxH-Wb5sQP3sTfertOL0tU-qLdWwE-IjTPVS8mokphyaFwARGTmhIbfy-Wl4Le5sUAeYxKfn8wGKtLwU2d44QVRTU2ciGrKaJ4mQSZbnZZmncARjoYyiwxigiTtdsRx19wsHQc/s320/IMG_9731.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
On the fireplace... I hand cut some small hearts and sewed them with red thread. I thought this was super cute too.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

(as a side note, I received these adorable measuring cups from one of the girls that day. Haven't used them for measuring yet, but have used them to serve small items.)<br />

This was in the kitchen, some white roses, a gorgeous Anthro plate on display (I love buying single anthro plates to put out like this), and a heart bowl.<br />

I punched red hearts and used them to label the food. (note to self: 7th grade girls are still picky eaters. They do not care for home made chicken salad or home made pimiento cheese. Stick to pizza and quit wasting your time.)<br />

After the party was over, I left this table out for a few days (until the actual Valentine's day). I changed out the paper plates for some pretty white plates. <br />

And now onto a fun idea from my school Valentine's party (of 2012)... one of the sweet moms who was in charge of bringing bottled waters really spiced it up! She used red duct tape to cover the water bottle label and then let her daughter add Valentine's stickers. So festive and SO simple! Love it!</div>

Okay... maybe I'll post some more recent photos soon :)Kelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15105225551414964624noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6084373234857005468.post-63117939714603532772013-08-23T21:05:00.000-05:002013-08-24T21:22:17.260-05:00Fabric Bunting<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hubby's out of town playing golf with college friends.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Baby fell asleep after only 1 minute of crying! (yay sleep training is working!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And it's 8:54 on a Friday night, so I'm blogging. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Of course I have 1,000,304,204 photos of my boy I could post, but instead of trying to pick a small assortment of them, I thought I'd post about a craft project I did LAST year and never posted about :) Timely.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My bestest friend had a sweet baby girl, last July. As in the baby is now 1 year old. I made this fabric bunting for her nursery before the baby was born.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The colors of her nursery are yellow, pink and blue. So I chose some fabrics in those colors with very slight patterns. She already had a lot of pattern in the room and wanted this to be more subtle. Since the fabric was pretty thin, I chose to use a white lining on the back as well. Below are my supplies... fabric, lining, white grosgrain ribbon, pinking shears, and a triangle template I found online. No clue where online, I made this LAST year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggTo4Zy-l4pFxyrPWWoL48nklE7CNc9Ic_3vcyQLrdJCM4w-WLhZ5nGSA5oBTDLqDTUqNsoRt8j0bIz55AyCvi5vv7hSqa6ZhVdB-61brHAAQEiPpfdNKDjdOaKSeY8MR-gn9VrwGH_1U/s1600/IMG_0077.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggTo4Zy-l4pFxyrPWWoL48nklE7CNc9Ic_3vcyQLrdJCM4w-WLhZ5nGSA5oBTDLqDTUqNsoRt8j0bIz55AyCvi5vv7hSqa6ZhVdB-61brHAAQEiPpfdNKDjdOaKSeY8MR-gn9VrwGH_1U/s320/IMG_0077.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
First I cut all of my triangles, making sure the pattern was going the appropriate direction.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5q6oqk4_LtJFGXGuH1wZ1xZ979n4JBwwKEcKRI6U8_qO5j_tKi5pIgvaqrf8hOuy_GXyjwlZP14kdUXLa2iF1a-7YwVA3hOJ64Mx7oFqIMkyHLjqYaj2u1T1q8z4LxdHu-X3l0PmPoPw/s1600/IMG_0081.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5q6oqk4_LtJFGXGuH1wZ1xZ979n4JBwwKEcKRI6U8_qO5j_tKi5pIgvaqrf8hOuy_GXyjwlZP14kdUXLa2iF1a-7YwVA3hOJ64Mx7oFqIMkyHLjqYaj2u1T1q8z4LxdHu-X3l0PmPoPw/s320/IMG_0081.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Then I IRONED the triangles! This is a big deal because I never iron! But also it was important in an attempt to sew straight. (also something I never do.)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiak9pByLcniPuxxBNhQ03E_VbLrB8hDYTWWHcvrHmoX28jK-3JWAvJdLNtV484fSxQ0noFLZIT9cDGxgwHzNYT58CICrFrgOJDhqPf-cWt1X_XTbzeW1QmtjCf8L6JuSVPc50LVZbgeo4/s1600/IMG_0082.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiak9pByLcniPuxxBNhQ03E_VbLrB8hDYTWWHcvrHmoX28jK-3JWAvJdLNtV484fSxQ0noFLZIT9cDGxgwHzNYT58CICrFrgOJDhqPf-cWt1X_XTbzeW1QmtjCf8L6JuSVPc50LVZbgeo4/s320/IMG_0082.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Here is the basic idea that we're going for...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7etvZEAvEToCR4fbWXPYIb2-pzuaGsEpL5fdv1CS6F_3e3LIN3-_Y6BFdH4TmnJpJyrHKwRm2iTARKv3A-ee4oSAdT97i-BHvj77NLlyhvAd8Zf1pTfZmnHlvkYFUwwxsoLdKGJHORZ0/s1600/IMG_0084.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7etvZEAvEToCR4fbWXPYIb2-pzuaGsEpL5fdv1CS6F_3e3LIN3-_Y6BFdH4TmnJpJyrHKwRm2iTARKv3A-ee4oSAdT97i-BHvj77NLlyhvAd8Zf1pTfZmnHlvkYFUwwxsoLdKGJHORZ0/s320/IMG_0084.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I sewed the lining to each triangle then used the pinking shears to trim them up (because in some places the lining was showing along the edge.)<br />
Then I laid out the triangles, placed the ribbon on top and pinned the triangles in place. Then it was simply a matter of running the whole thing through the sewing machine along the ribbon. Easy peasy.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilNObt1frIaad_7G9OEK9qPtZYboCrhTCaSaUE6LrZIulWqhaK-5SQhh36NC12Td_S4vcYeqMzQ8mA11mXHmIxyBRF8CA_7ksLoa6RL-tCtFZ1v7ULuyv7XQQJoT1rObU_tDXZoMym9Ls/s1600/IMG_0085.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilNObt1frIaad_7G9OEK9qPtZYboCrhTCaSaUE6LrZIulWqhaK-5SQhh36NC12Td_S4vcYeqMzQ8mA11mXHmIxyBRF8CA_7ksLoa6RL-tCtFZ1v7ULuyv7XQQJoT1rObU_tDXZoMym9Ls/s320/IMG_0085.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
The finished product! Somewhere in the archives of my phone I have a photo of the bunting in the nursery. But it's Friday night and I'm not that motivated to find it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMnOEJPB9BhSPHQuegWLx3T-nQGuJoqQ0v3RZnz4sTruDWLMglnO5dWVPl2JMkXgFOAqMX2opUan1ZlWP-c4SvudzGj4i1AXTRoultSbdunxy0qSTaQE72WB5SkPFWXDpx-XQyV2XHbd8/s1600/IMG_0093.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMnOEJPB9BhSPHQuegWLx3T-nQGuJoqQ0v3RZnz4sTruDWLMglnO5dWVPl2JMkXgFOAqMX2opUan1ZlWP-c4SvudzGj4i1AXTRoultSbdunxy0qSTaQE72WB5SkPFWXDpx-XQyV2XHbd8/s320/IMG_0093.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I had some left over fabric, plus a bunch of fabric in similar colors from random crafts over the years, and I was inspired to make a mini bunting. (I actually like this one more and it was much easier to make).<br />
<br />
Again, I cut out tons of triangles, using pinking shears and a template. Because the triangles were so small, they didn't really need a lining (yes, one less step!). And because this was a mini bunting, I actually liked when the patterns went in all different directions for more interest. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-KlzDFhLzkg1QTXgyNoSgIWBtak4Y1N6LZA07AUqjrgXM50v7OfS4jnVch5JOFxwnWYYZ7Htr0pnsW4v8RHbhvMD4Krv60GyFtYj9OTt8GExwSAfBEnPpoHBrvlB9b0m_l3lyq6MLEqM/s1600/IMG_0146.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-KlzDFhLzkg1QTXgyNoSgIWBtak4Y1N6LZA07AUqjrgXM50v7OfS4jnVch5JOFxwnWYYZ7Htr0pnsW4v8RHbhvMD4Krv60GyFtYj9OTt8GExwSAfBEnPpoHBrvlB9b0m_l3lyq6MLEqM/s320/IMG_0146.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Again, I ironed them all.<br />
<br />
Then I stacked them by fabric. I wanted a random order this time, so I just picked from different piles as I went. I didn't use a fabric at all, just ran the triangles through the sewing machine. Most of the time the triangles were touching at the corners, but if not, the thread was visible and that was just fine.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXtokksirIpzOPAPS-u-5HyCNQa8XfqymgkKSCQ0E3ZAMdx_RPcYY6GRhfqAnXea7n_kbYKZzvskrIhVKMPv8OPqkFlID3QU5haGQIj1FkURahV6dJayPtvagjvu5q9HaFoiGxXx3tol0/s1600/IMG_0148.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXtokksirIpzOPAPS-u-5HyCNQa8XfqymgkKSCQ0E3ZAMdx_RPcYY6GRhfqAnXea7n_kbYKZzvskrIhVKMPv8OPqkFlID3QU5haGQIj1FkURahV6dJayPtvagjvu5q9HaFoiGxXx3tol0/s320/IMG_0148.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Here's the bunting laid on the bed.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEho_QYaMMy4i02UWt4opNenLHl6ed-c5AvUPNadwWh6SmrJGkq3HWhe_UoGJzQEBoQ7GRrwSrQ-g0E0wTSZWL06zIXFfwHKaWloTCVkLOz6-9LpN3d4HA8zBi2gAno2vXo1QG6ZpgMo6kw/s1600/IMG_0151.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEho_QYaMMy4i02UWt4opNenLHl6ed-c5AvUPNadwWh6SmrJGkq3HWhe_UoGJzQEBoQ7GRrwSrQ-g0E0wTSZWL06zIXFfwHKaWloTCVkLOz6-9LpN3d4HA8zBi2gAno2vXo1QG6ZpgMo6kw/s320/IMG_0151.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
And here it is hanging on the ironing board :) (funny thing- this is now Caleb's nursery- my oh my how the room has changed!) Funnier thing... I love bunting, I enjoyed making it, and I didn't make any for Caleb's room. Is it girly? Or am I just weird?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg00uj-ViCctLRKIlckPs1hJwXnCbySrdRblE2R6hEisHhmzVeMtV1jPa93bJTA8mspJXP5FNBxGZBujkkBdV70U9Phf0TFm_-YCnqQswwnNdTaQWtFWuBSLgDRcDjawVM6Ot5U1vAIWUM/s1600/IMG_0152.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg00uj-ViCctLRKIlckPs1hJwXnCbySrdRblE2R6hEisHhmzVeMtV1jPa93bJTA8mspJXP5FNBxGZBujkkBdV70U9Phf0TFm_-YCnqQswwnNdTaQWtFWuBSLgDRcDjawVM6Ot5U1vAIWUM/s320/IMG_0152.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
That truly was a fun and easy craft. I think I actually like the look of the mini bunting better than the large. It can hang on the wall or on the crib or on a window. The options are endless. <br />
<br />
Ok- off to read and go to sleep. Because one thing I've learned as a mom, if the baby's sleeping, I should be too!Kelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15105225551414964624noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6084373234857005468.post-44619795410657466062013-08-14T21:39:00.000-05:002013-08-24T21:22:03.682-05:00Caleb's Nursery <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A little boy's nursery...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you start looking at the bedding out there for a boy, you better like animals, cars, trains, dinosaurs, cowboys, or sports.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Same with boy clothes.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Why do they make so many cute girls clothes and bedding with fun patterned fabrics but not for boys??</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I knew from the beginning I didn't want a "theme room." Nothing against theme rooms, I just didn't want one. Plus this nursery was going to serve as our guest room as well, and I didn't want grown up guests staying in "monkey land" or something.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
So I consulted my favorite resource, pinterest. I found an amazing bedding full of blue and yellow and gray and white! And I tracked it down and found where it was sold online- PLUS they sold matching twin size comforters! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I literally cannot remember the website where I registered for this bedding, but here is the website for the brand... <a href="http://www.cadenlane.com/">www.cadenlane.com</a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So... here is our tour... the view when you walk into the room.</div>

I've had this blue lamp from Pier1 since I was in college. I love the "Caleb" artwork, a gift at a shower. The knick knacks on the table were from my nursery as a baby. Fun fact, apparently my hubby and I both had Peter Rabbit in our nurseries.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The balloon art is actually a photo from our Gender Reveal Party- I love having it in his nursery as a reminder of the moment we found out it was a boy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The other prints I found on pinterest and printed at home. Frames from Hobby Lobby. I have actually replaced the yellow one on the left with an AWESOME print from <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/recipeforcrazy" target="_blank">Recipe For Crazy</a> on etsy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I don't have a photo of it in the room, but here's a copy of it from the store. It's a quote from the Jesus Storybook Bible (which we read every day and LOVE).</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Caleb already has quite a collection of stuffed animals. This is only a few of them. I made the yellow and gray throw pillows, all fabric from fabric.com<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwq806TsN2E1S_QJi53G0iLDIRyUGFrHD7Hp9JWnCcoL683iuVNGzpGxW3J5ZwNWY3i7LTG4K-kuWr5hLvVlP04XuanbolPln8Q2JLFBOCay1pZLYDQmwWiGDyW0sdhQsiEZZ1f7HGdSk/s1600/IMG_1748.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwq806TsN2E1S_QJi53G0iLDIRyUGFrHD7Hp9JWnCcoL683iuVNGzpGxW3J5ZwNWY3i7LTG4K-kuWr5hLvVlP04XuanbolPln8Q2JLFBOCay1pZLYDQmwWiGDyW0sdhQsiEZZ1f7HGdSk/s320/IMG_1748.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
the wall when you first come in the room is a plethora of items... apparently it couldn't all fit in one shot, so here are the "parts."<br />
<br />
At the top of the wall is a hand - me down shelf that I spray painted gray. On top of it sits some super cute items that were decorations at one of my showers. And the red cowboy boots were a gift from Hubby's aunt. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrKeVWppR8kF4RhksNtU78K7IdxRpiNBOGBcfIqs5Mqvj3Off_SoQglunHilmMF3HwVM9ORsvOgnUfw4Epm6w2UltCuZ3Za-qImCVXQCuWBQIZBl9joxLHlxPDgz_zGz_x7qNIyJv9-Yc/s1600/IMG_1752.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrKeVWppR8kF4RhksNtU78K7IdxRpiNBOGBcfIqs5Mqvj3Off_SoQglunHilmMF3HwVM9ORsvOgnUfw4Epm6w2UltCuZ3Za-qImCVXQCuWBQIZBl9joxLHlxPDgz_zGz_x7qNIyJv9-Yc/s320/IMG_1752.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Under the shelf is this cute "ruler". I saw it at a little boutique awhile back and was so excited that it works in our room! Everything hanging was also decorations from that super cute shower... his sonogram, an awesome Bible verse about Caleb, and baby pictures of hubby and me.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjU8T187EEzF-10Q-J05A-ZFiiS_Qunjuj8NjKRy4hyphenhyphenY0FacgWzI-bL8WIqguljOlY5HE8k4O-BuchgknGCJnhWFa-13DIcA-g3NAvr_3kKfmI9iKjXArZwMaBMA9diP1KV0FellBNKAro/s1600/IMG_1753.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjU8T187EEzF-10Q-J05A-ZFiiS_Qunjuj8NjKRy4hyphenhyphenY0FacgWzI-bL8WIqguljOlY5HE8k4O-BuchgknGCJnhWFa-13DIcA-g3NAvr_3kKfmI9iKjXArZwMaBMA9diP1KV0FellBNKAro/s320/IMG_1753.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Near this "ruler," I hung this cute print, also found on pinterest. It says "He's got the whole world." I love it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I was totally inspired by... pinterest (again) and made this shelving unit for his toys and books. I bought unfinished crates at Joann's and stained them. Then I just stacked them. I may actually attach them eventually, but I'm not sure what configuration I want long term. <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The wooden train on top was made by hubby's uncle when he was little. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next to the chair, we have a side table that doesn't fit in our living room anymore. Found this cute yellow tray at Hobby Lobby. The little "we loved you before you were born" sign was a gift- LOVE it! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The lamp is from Target. And we have a large basket of burp cloths under the table (because Caleb is a "spitter" so we go through the whole basket every couple of days.)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
And to top it all of (and bring in more yellow), we have a ruler growth chart. I saw something like this on pinterest and wanted to make my own... but then I was 8 months pregnant and found a fabric version at pottery barn kids, and well sometimes it's worth it to just pay for things. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We use the dresser as his changing table. This artwork hangs above the table. He LOVED looking at these and has since he was little. The bottom left picture is a painting by hubby's grandma of a train station. The top right picture was the bottom of a birthday invitation. The other four animals are actually gift bags! Sometimes you just have to be creative when looking for art. All frames from Hobby Lobby.</div>

And that... is Caleb's nursery. It was so fun to brainstorm, shop, plan, and put together! And the result is a room we love to spend time in! And hopefully a room that can grow with him.Kelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15105225551414964624noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6084373234857005468.post-13153141443942742532013-08-13T21:04:00.003-05:002013-08-24T21:22:24.789-05:00A Gallery Wall<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I realize it's been a long time since I posted last. Since that post I have...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
been pregnant.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
had a baby.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
gone back to work.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
stopped working outside of the home.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
designed a nursery.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
changed 1,000,023 diapers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
celebrated 6 months of my sweet boy's life.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
celebrated 6 years of marriage.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and many other things.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So why not just start posting with a gallery wall since I did this last week instead of trying to catch up on over a year of life.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We have a LONG hallway in our home. I mean super long. Everyone who walks down the hall of our home always says "wow, this is along hall." And it is. My mom refers to it as a bowling alley. And one day Caleb (my son) and I will probably bowl down it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's in the addition of our home, which we completed 2 years ago. And the walls have been bare ever since. Much to my hubby's dismay. In my mind, it was always going to be a gallery wall of family photos. I was just waiting for our family to grow. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And now that Caleb is 6 months old, we have plenty of photos to begin the wall. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I researched pinterest to see what stood out to me in gallery walls. They can so easily become sloppy, messy, chaotic.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was drawn to...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
~ white frames</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
~ simple frames with some variation</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
~ variety of sizes</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
~ asymmetry</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
~ colored photos</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My favorite inspiration picture had an accent of 1 color in the frames and mats, I decided to do that as well. I also noticed that they displays I liked most all had a pretty defined bottom row, so I tried to do that as well. This is a work in progress. I plan on adding more frames over time. Also, I don't have photos for all of the frames yet, so some frames just have scrapbook paper in them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here it is...</div>

About a year ago, we set out on a journey to start a family. After years of prayer, we felt God was saying "now's the time."</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
So when nothing happened, month after month after month, we started to wonder what was going on. Had we heard God correctly? Was now really the time?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Waiting. Learning patience, over and over. Watching <em>others</em> start and grow their families. All the while, praying and more waiting.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I can't say that it was a fun journey. It wasn't. It was pretty painful actually.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But I can say... it was worth the wait.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I can say that the husband and I are MUCH closer to the Lord and to each other.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I can say that we built our marriage into an even more solid foundation.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I can say that the waiting made my sweet husband SO excited to be a dad.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I mean, look at that face...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBwRgKLnurYSX87RjyTC-xBuqf-SYqbIAPcSVWq26fmwdjrROn-f2xx1_qcb296LAxBYQ9j5IVwL3n73ccf_VPpU7I_3XFPPzzzHJKnH6qlXOqve4ilDy7xR_1SR_hTt2o6gYmzbPL3Ag/s1600/IMG_0167.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBwRgKLnurYSX87RjyTC-xBuqf-SYqbIAPcSVWq26fmwdjrROn-f2xx1_qcb296LAxBYQ9j5IVwL3n73ccf_VPpU7I_3XFPPzzzHJKnH6qlXOqve4ilDy7xR_1SR_hTt2o6gYmzbPL3Ag/s320/IMG_0167.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
That is a happy man and a happy lady! And a pregnant lady! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Took that photo just seconds after telling him he would be a dad. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Wow. Still can't believe that's true. After all of the waiting, it's hard to grasp that the pregnancy is actually here. <em>A baby is growing</em>. And we will be parents.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When I took the test, Ty was out playing golf. I was certain it would be negative (again), but I was going out of town for a week and just wanted to check since things were not "normal." Turns out I was wrong. It was positive, immediately. I was shocked. Still am sometimes.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I waited patiently for sweet hubby to return home. And handed him a father's day card (that I bought last year and saved). "Happy Father's Day Dad-To-Be!" I will never forget his smile and bright eyes- pure joy!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuFPYW3xPkglTfwNnA5-xSN_2jAsnHE-i7b7S4F8LF3YsgRmkG6zcl1MTYKLFASaiSUX_AppvIgGRNf0uu_D8eu6QcwAbdW36b-4HFC10Ykds2dQs1d3wJmlPEsOz8gL2VW_UXPMAC1Rg/s1600/IMG_0169.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuFPYW3xPkglTfwNnA5-xSN_2jAsnHE-i7b7S4F8LF3YsgRmkG6zcl1MTYKLFASaiSUX_AppvIgGRNf0uu_D8eu6QcwAbdW36b-4HFC10Ykds2dQs1d3wJmlPEsOz8gL2VW_UXPMAC1Rg/s320/IMG_0169.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
We knew were pregnant at the early stage of FOUR weeks! So we waited a few days before starting to share the news. And we had many friends we wanted to tell in person or on the phone or by email. It has been such a fun process to share with those who have lifted us up in prayer over this time of waiting. It is so humbling to know that God has heard our prayers and answered in His perfect timing!! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And yet, I will never forget the journey that brought us to this point. I learned a lot that I pray I never forget. I want to be more sensitive to those who are stilll waiting. I wrote a blog post about it, just haven't published it yet, but plan to in the future. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As of today, I am 9 weeks along and due on February 3rd. And feeling good! Just tired, very tired. And eating lots of cheese and sausage (a far cry from my usual carrots, fruit, and laughing cow cheese.) Below is the photo we're using on facebook today to make the "facebook announcement." </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN6AUH-f6psSyPRx0CQHYbBsFZZJZpW1BsuC92epTHB33hsmbNN4Y5CQQPzDHGCEo9GmtpwKQcP1h5B-zDh8aCg3trVlKSGi57SCDlHK0MpIDT_FzqGAP-3AMbFDLzqWv8xaMjICpbvSE/s1600/IMG_0187.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN6AUH-f6psSyPRx0CQHYbBsFZZJZpW1BsuC92epTHB33hsmbNN4Y5CQQPzDHGCEo9GmtpwKQcP1h5B-zDh8aCg3trVlKSGi57SCDlHK0MpIDT_FzqGAP-3AMbFDLzqWv8xaMjICpbvSE/s320/IMG_0187.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We covet prayers for the health of our sweet child and for us along this journey! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thank you for sharing in our joy!</div>

We LOVE it there! (and yes they replace all "c's" with "K's" because Kanakuk starts with a K.) Every Sunday they serve coffee cake (or maybe it's Koffee Kake) for breakfast. And let me tell you, it's delicious! Ask anyone who has ever been a kamper before, and they will tell you that Sunday morning coffee cake is the best!<br />
<br />
I have had this recipe for years, I think I found it on their website a million years ago. But I forgot about it and rarely make it. I had my last Wednesday morning Bible study with my 7th grade girls last week and thought I'd bring this coffee cake as an end of the year treat. Hubby was thrilled! Although he was a bit skeptical that I could make it "as good as kamp." I assured him I could. <br />
<br />
The Ingredients: <br />
Cake:<br />
2 eggs, beaten<br />
2/3 cup melted margarine (I used butter)<br />
1 1/2 tsp vanilla<br />
1/2 cup evaporated milk<br />
3/4 cup water<br />
1 3/4 cup sugar<br />
3 cup all purpose flour<br />
2 1/2 tsp baking powder<br />
1 tsp salt<br />
<br />
Topping: (I made a little extra, you can never have too much topping)<br />
1/2 pound brown sugar<br />
1 Tbsp cinnamon<br />
1/4 cup flour<br />
1/4 stick softened margarine (I used butter)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinM6uYQNZyJX3cgdKfaxAWHnqYJbcU0MegFaf1WJP56zLZ9kJ7XZlhNs8iRRd-BD853znxrDXuR_jmWT1oFzbqm_AwvM4aTktWWPURJJLrLmy3J8PFXkHz2JiNmvs9OaegaKmzjR1FbOc/s1600/IMG_0097.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinM6uYQNZyJX3cgdKfaxAWHnqYJbcU0MegFaf1WJP56zLZ9kJ7XZlhNs8iRRd-BD853znxrDXuR_jmWT1oFzbqm_AwvM4aTktWWPURJJLrLmy3J8PFXkHz2JiNmvs9OaegaKmzjR1FbOc/s320/IMG_0097.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
First I let my eggs sit out just a little while to warm up to room temperature. I've read that helps with "fluffiness" I have no clue if it did anything.<br />
<br />
Beat the eggs. Add melted margarine, vanilla, evaporated milk, and water.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHjosnSrVWyy2avd9D6z6J8PwT7rDuWfan-_zZ1Q-RWsfgeDEmRRjhuGhsGXTBalgClwSQEbC9mNJp2rfyxZryOvnMNFqWj5ascJmJm9K_2XwMV4KERWcubHe9Fo3kqF0SnzqM0ztAoUM/s1600/IMG_0098.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHjosnSrVWyy2avd9D6z6J8PwT7rDuWfan-_zZ1Q-RWsfgeDEmRRjhuGhsGXTBalgClwSQEbC9mNJp2rfyxZryOvnMNFqWj5ascJmJm9K_2XwMV4KERWcubHe9Fo3kqF0SnzqM0ztAoUM/s320/IMG_0098.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Combine the dry ingredients. Add to the liquid mixture and beat until batter is smooth.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhx_mfdOLulAbwBFUINc81q7WEzMrYAFhOGZCYZxngjBuyqCI0qaS4zSRaHbgL7Sr1wocisUP6zJGZgKSQXMI0l5BwNFyzVUPxRw0z9O9kswNt2-5tpHLxGvC_d4kG_tpDZsE5U7q1bCms/s1600/IMG_0099.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhx_mfdOLulAbwBFUINc81q7WEzMrYAFhOGZCYZxngjBuyqCI0qaS4zSRaHbgL7Sr1wocisUP6zJGZgKSQXMI0l5BwNFyzVUPxRw0z9O9kswNt2-5tpHLxGvC_d4kG_tpDZsE5U7q1bCms/s320/IMG_0099.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Here's the topping, you mix it until it's crumbly. I guess you could use a pastry blender or a mixer. I just used my hands. But HERE'S THE TRICK... you mix the topping DAYS BEFORE you want to bake the cake. That was the secret in the K-Kountry kitchen... they mixed topping on Wednesday or Thursday and left it on the shelf until Sunday morning. I have no clue why it works, but trust me, it's an important step.<br />

Next pour the batter into a greased 9x13 pan. Sprinkle on the topping and bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes. (Mine had to bake closer to 40 minutes and was still VERY moist!)<br />

We ate it all so fast I didn't get a picture of a slice of it! But let me tell you, it's delish!! Oh, and yes, Hubby agreed that it tastes EXACTLY like kamps! Success!Kelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15105225551414964624noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6084373234857005468.post-11433127981605629092012-05-24T09:15:00.001-05:002013-08-24T21:23:16.203-05:00Easy, Adorable Centerpieces and a Wedding StoryA few weeks ago, we traveled to Branson, MO for a sweet wedding. My dear (and VERY creative friend), Jane, made these awesome centerpieces for the wedding!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxDaHUl8S36mLKEnKSxgql_DCgp93TrQehxBSnzi1U74TY-7ilKFeaGMuIVl4i2AZFtboe1IvisY9pL5YRqzJp2mBZjuKUZkbEqo94GdwuEGPYbUl-wt6fCOmYDFn3kLmimfC0O7E4wDg/s1600/IMG_0054.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxDaHUl8S36mLKEnKSxgql_DCgp93TrQehxBSnzi1U74TY-7ilKFeaGMuIVl4i2AZFtboe1IvisY9pL5YRqzJp2mBZjuKUZkbEqo94GdwuEGPYbUl-wt6fCOmYDFn3kLmimfC0O7E4wDg/s320/IMG_0054.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
How cute are those??? Mason jars of various sizes, wrapped in burlap, lace, and twine. With tea lights in the bottom. And on a few tables, we placed our bridesmaid bouquets in one of the jars. Simple. Gorgeous. Oh and the tree "disk" that they were on was pretty cute too.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEillViNRqtJAg0Are0lTaVJKNDF9GhUUIvW0uMYm2boe3221GCnOajKn-cIJ3Ft31AmuO10rbewDErCFwYIuV0KCnMAlPDDJclFhX6zr4hA5b3nNB4SDJAxCrjjSfk57Rng6KRMizYyTOw/s1600/IMG_0055.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEillViNRqtJAg0Are0lTaVJKNDF9GhUUIvW0uMYm2boe3221GCnOajKn-cIJ3Ft31AmuO10rbewDErCFwYIuV0KCnMAlPDDJclFhX6zr4hA5b3nNB4SDJAxCrjjSfk57Rng6KRMizYyTOw/s320/IMG_0055.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
So I've been saving EVERY glass jar we empty in the kitchen with the full intention of recreating these this summer. Now I don't have a dead tree to cut up, so I'm thinking I'm going to use a variety of old (and hopefully tarnished) silver trays to hold the jars. I have some burlap already, looking at garage sales for some old lace curtains to cut up (thought that would be cheaper than buying at Joann's), and I need to get some twine. But I think I can make LOTS of these centerpieces for less than $10. Sweet!<br />
<br />
Here is a close up of the beautiful bridesmaid bouquets... all green. Love it. I probably won't use flowers in mine... all candles. And actually, for our outdoor party, I"ll probably get some citronella candles, double duty! But I think simple white daisies would look super cute as well.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWmFyzvLUDNfuOz-_WdyRogXRnfrjGWaStV-QGAiwMCSdxsNokHrbXE74Hj9T-cqQwmxQ1QQPlLPCYjSrKYAl6q9U81ix8nL3V7ZNx8Ki2Y6MleBOLppppPK1rCP6Mu14tJUPd_rkWaT0/s1600/IMG_0040.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWmFyzvLUDNfuOz-_WdyRogXRnfrjGWaStV-QGAiwMCSdxsNokHrbXE74Hj9T-cqQwmxQ1QQPlLPCYjSrKYAl6q9U81ix8nL3V7ZNx8Ki2Y6MleBOLppppPK1rCP6Mu14tJUPd_rkWaT0/s320/IMG_0040.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
While we're looking at the wedding centerpieces... thought I'd share a few more of the wedding pics.<br />
<br />
This is why I miss living in Branson. Look at that view. Takes my breath away these days. I took it for granted for so long.<br />

The wedding party... isn't the chapel adorable!! The girls got ready in the small building on the left... it was a GORGEOUS day, until we were supposed to head to the chapel for the wedding. Then for about 30 minutes, it POURED down rain! We rain to the chapel under umbrellas. There was awesome thunder echoing off of the lake throughout the ceremony. VERY dramatic. VERY movie-esque.<br />

The sweet couple!! LOVE THEM!! Such a testimony of FAITH, God's TIMING, God's PROMISES and God's GOODNESS! Oh man oh man, does it make me excited to see what He is going to do next with them!<br />

They probably don't love this photo, but I wanted you to see the front of the chapel. Gorgeous! Great view of the lake from the front windows. AND when it was raining, it was super cool looking! Maybe not what the original plans were, but I liked it. <br />

And that was my fun wedding trip to Branson. Hubby and I met in Branson working at a summer camp. I lived there when we started dating, actually I was roommates with the bride in this wedding. So we have a TON of memories in Branson. BUT we haven't been back since we've been married. It was a great trip! We spent the car ride home considering how we can move back. Don't think it's going to happen, but Branson sure has a soft spot in our hearts.Kelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15105225551414964624noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6084373234857005468.post-18797782172415679772012-05-21T19:56:00.002-05:002013-08-24T21:23:30.676-05:00New Favorite SongLoving this song right now... on repeat as I drive... The lyrics are seriously amazing! My prayer all day, everyday.<br />
<br />
Shane and Shane "Without You" (their new CD, #3)<br />
<br />
I can walk through the storm <br />
I can walk by faith when my sight is gone <br />
Just as long as You are here with me <br />
And I can gain everything <br />
But what do I have if I don't have the King? <br />
Oh I need to know You're here with me <br />
<br />
Here I am, I'm calling out, "Father, <br />
Can You hear me, can You hear me? <br />
I don't wanna to go without You <br />
Here I am, can You talk a little louder <br />
So I can hear You? I want to hear You <br />
I don't wanna to move without You." <br />
<br />
Even though I believe <br />
You've taken up a home inside of me <br />
And You'll never leave <br />
I still need to know You're here with me <br />
<br />
Here I am, I'm calling out, "Father, <br />
Can You hear me, can You hear me? <br />
I don't wanna to go without You <br />
Here I am, can You talk a little louder <br />
So I can hear You? I want to hear You <br />
I don't wanna to move without You." <br />
<br />
If Your presence goes, I don't wanna stay <br />
If Your presence stays, I don't wanna go <br />
If Your presence goes, I don't wanna stay <br />
If Your presence stays, I don't wanna go <br />
I need You <br />
<br />
Here I am, I'm calling out, "Father, <br />
Can You hear me, can You hear me? <br />
I don't wanna to go without You <br />
Here I am, can You talk a little louder <br />
So I can hear You? I want to hear You <br />

I do not teach for the gifts. But the gifts are awesome! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Especially in kindergarten when the parents and kids really love you!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I received some amazing gifts this year... but this was one of my favs!</div>

Look at this cute personalized notepad! This sweet mom has a super cute notepad with a photo of her beautiful photogenic kids across the bottom. She regularly sent me notes at school on this paper and so I asked her about it one day. She thoughtfully decided to have one made for me for the end of the year! I sent her a couple of pics of me and the hubby and she designed it from there!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjATaBazoWLR4yDCtv5q5rli8SrOFcJWQauIGm162HxltIsJ1mNVLDCOrzckT6d6lSlEwT_I5XGZdOmkgUMhkQg24uvXPEUsAvsaRMnJzVGyDnzwwNg9EIA76oRs7i80N0IbL7DDZ1kReo/s1600/IMG_0073.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjATaBazoWLR4yDCtv5q5rli8SrOFcJWQauIGm162HxltIsJ1mNVLDCOrzckT6d6lSlEwT_I5XGZdOmkgUMhkQg24uvXPEUsAvsaRMnJzVGyDnzwwNg9EIA76oRs7i80N0IbL7DDZ1kReo/s320/IMG_0073.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
I cannot believe she picked one with a monogram! She doesn't even know of my <strike>LOVE for</strike> obsession with monograms! Perfect choice!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFynawD_xlJPtxLLOdBlGJTuAhA0JgYlk8tFEbrh-fp7hYFOaz7-3FqVcI-UzbG8bet4a0q12Pe5VVLPyX_mSiJyfEzUY07n3d1HrGmE-kGDSU0VDOdjtVWwrZ-HaispwKKOxE9CRqeFA/s1600/IMG_0076.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFynawD_xlJPtxLLOdBlGJTuAhA0JgYlk8tFEbrh-fp7hYFOaz7-3FqVcI-UzbG8bet4a0q12Pe5VVLPyX_mSiJyfEzUY07n3d1HrGmE-kGDSU0VDOdjtVWwrZ-HaispwKKOxE9CRqeFA/s320/IMG_0076.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Of course the hubby loved it because the photo was taken at the ballpark during the World Series last year! Double perfect choice!<br />
<br />
You can make your own notepad too! She made it at <a href="http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery/notepads" target="_blank">Shutterfly</a>. And the quality is awesome! And the turn around time was quick! Great teacher gift! Or mother's day gift (for next year) or father's day gift!Kelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15105225551414964624noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6084373234857005468.post-33050462113588943102012-05-18T05:00:00.000-05:002012-05-18T05:00:09.200-05:00Magnificent Magnolia<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The sun has scorched all of those blooms since then. We've gotten a sporadic one or two in the past week. But I believe the magic of the Magnolia is over for the year.<br />
<br />
We realized that our rose bushes and Lorepetelums (no clue how to spell that, only know how to say it), well they were overgrown and really encroaching the magnolia on the bottom half. So last weekend the hubby and I really trimmed back the bushes and gave the magnolia "room to breath." Hoping that this encourages more growth and an even bigger display next year!Kelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15105225551414964624noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6084373234857005468.post-3614075366208711452012-05-17T09:27:00.000-05:002012-05-17T09:27:00.347-05:00Dishwashers<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Last summer when we did our large home addition (adding a master bedroom and 2 bathrooms), we had to put in a new dishwasher in order to pass the Green Energy Inspection. Yes I know, a dishwasher has NOTHING to do with a bedroom or a bathroom. But that is how "well thought out" the green energy inspection laws are. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Anyway, we got a new dishwasher out of the deal. Can't complain.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So when my 10 month old dishwasher QUIT WORKING, I was a little perturbed. Fortunately it was still under warranty, so the service call was free.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Turns out a little wire had not been fully "clicked" to the next wire at the factory. And after many uses, the wires had disconnected. The nice man fixed it in less than 5 minutes and there was no cost. Yay!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But then he proceeded to give me some dishwasher tips... so far I've only really done 1 of these... but I fully intend to do both.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
1. Pre-Wash: I showed him that I really only use the little dishwasher packets. He said those aren't his favorite (since you can't adjust how much detergent you put in based on whether or not you have hard or soft water. Which, of course, I have no clue if I have hard or soft water, so the packets work just fine for me.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But he asked if I ever put detergent in the "pre-wash" spot. Um... no. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
He kindly explained that I was missing out on the full capabilities of my dishwasher and by just adding some detergent to the Pre-wash, I could get much cleaner dishes. He said powder or gel work equally well. And he typically uses powder himself.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Done and done. I bought some gel dishwasher detergent (because the gel was on sale)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I add a small amount and I have to say, it is truly amazing how different my dishes now look! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2. Dishwasher Magic </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeNnQ0kPwV-xCwTbxeSUy3vvf15cAvGacuWfjW0JiKu9s2DFq4OXFiroQsp3If5ZD7Tg6w-LqZlWAh4l2G_l-gLAEfeyidMcLT88kYh8IpsM7wRKjhnKtAgLzKzBEsO65ZgD_6BwYhiPQ/s1600/dishwasher+magic.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeNnQ0kPwV-xCwTbxeSUy3vvf15cAvGacuWfjW0JiKu9s2DFq4OXFiroQsp3If5ZD7Tg6w-LqZlWAh4l2G_l-gLAEfeyidMcLT88kYh8IpsM7wRKjhnKtAgLzKzBEsO65ZgD_6BwYhiPQ/s1600/dishwasher+magic.jpg" /></a></div>
Apparently you're supposed to clean your dishwasher every 6 months. Who knew!<br />
He says this "<a href="http://dishwashermagic.com/" target="_blank">Dishwasher Magic</a>" brand is great and to just follow the directions on the bottle. I still haven't done this because the one time I remembered to look for the dishwasher magic I was at the grocery store and I couldn't find it and I gave up after 2 minutes.<br />
<br />
But he said it helps clean out all of the gears and stuff under the bottom of the dishwasher and really prolongs the life and productivity of your dishwasher. So I fully intend to do this.<br />
<br />In fact, when searching for a photo of the stuff for this blog, I found their <a href="http://dishwashermagic.com/" target="_blank">website</a> and turns out they offer free shipping. So I really have no excuse not to buy this stuff right this minute. And neither do you! <br />
<br />
So while this is a somewhat boring post... I felt those 2 tips were worth sharing! I hope you try at least one of them! and maybe I'll go get some dishwasher magic right now too!Kelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15105225551414964624noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6084373234857005468.post-67952807307956020272012-05-12T12:51:00.000-05:002013-08-24T21:24:33.755-05:00A CookbookLast weekend I had the honor of being in a dear friend's wedding in Branson. It was awesome!<br />
<br />
She asked me to be a bridesmaid right after she got engaged... only TWO months ago! I knew the wedding was coming quickly and I wouldn't have any way to attend a shower in Branson or host a shower during the short engagement. So I decided to do a "shower by mail." Or really a "shower by email." <br />
<br />
You see my sweet friend has worked for the <a href="http://kanakukinstitute.com/" target="_blank">Kanakuk Institute</a> for the last 10 years. I think her official title is Dean of Women. But I have no clue. I just know that she supports, mentors, encourages, and loves all of the girls who attend each and every year. That's how we met... I went to KI and she became a sweet friend. Then after I graduated, I moved in with her. And that's when I really, fully understood the depth of her love for food and cooking.<br />
<br />
So... I emailed every girl who had ever attended the Kanakuk Institute and asked for recipes. (Okay, I didn't personally send the email. I wrote it and a KI staff girl sweetly helped me send the email.) And then the recipes started pouring in. I think we ended up with about 90 recipes from 60+ girls. <br />
<br />
Then the fun part... scrapbooking the cover :) Here it is... The Connolly Cookbook.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiafyxsbWOzYb1mUHyLFE31mXgymI2oCTraHiosW9pgnEBrqnWAIQKFhK0iHr3yeTaDIyLyv2sTOAs2dnMjuZ8idVA3JpWnOHQDICpH1qVjCm36HbuFTT7Z8K4fNioyfheBgWqMPVxqBIE/s1600/IMG_0017.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiafyxsbWOzYb1mUHyLFE31mXgymI2oCTraHiosW9pgnEBrqnWAIQKFhK0iHr3yeTaDIyLyv2sTOAs2dnMjuZ8idVA3JpWnOHQDICpH1qVjCm36HbuFTT7Z8K4fNioyfheBgWqMPVxqBIE/s320/IMG_0017.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Do you see the sweet scrapbook paper I found? "1 cup of love" "top chef" and decorated with measuring cups and spoons and oven mitts. Precious!! Do you also see how I need a real camera and not a dumb point and shoot that never wants to focus where I want it to?<br />
<br />
On the inside of the front cover I wrote a note to my friend. Then I separated all of the recipes by type... we had Starters and Sides<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikaCyuQR1DGj2q8AqnUrDdQzlQWlkmnhyphenhyphenhFDcno1v1phNwHrD9mB0H6qF9wV7c_ptp8i6AJYEnkwRfIT9iTprZkSVGvAAYSAXWvxSF7DVjgKmSBJq0xpcwPKMfhmjLd3y9T4FDyuI1lpw/s1600/IMG_0021.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikaCyuQR1DGj2q8AqnUrDdQzlQWlkmnhyphenhyphenhFDcno1v1phNwHrD9mB0H6qF9wV7c_ptp8i6AJYEnkwRfIT9iTprZkSVGvAAYSAXWvxSF7DVjgKmSBJq0xpcwPKMfhmjLd3y9T4FDyuI1lpw/s320/IMG_0021.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Soups and Salads<br />
Main Dishes<br />
Desserts<br />
and Breakfast and Breads<br />
<br />
I found this cute stationary paper at Office Depot and printed each and every recipe on one of the pages. Some of the girls went all out and added photos (like the one below), colorful and fun fonts, and sweet notes to our friend. (cannot get this photo to rotate. Ugh)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGi9LiiRSQb3TdM7DEhxhalSpYBhVO84u5khe7PcQDyomCSPPFaYUHYpZDfYQ_LTyfLdK1jGic3tjn-Bc_hwv6ed9AUJD4I2f6pSSnKj4Ddhs6WjpX04udVAjy1r_mgWNJBRsBch3NdOQ/s1600/IMG_0022.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGi9LiiRSQb3TdM7DEhxhalSpYBhVO84u5khe7PcQDyomCSPPFaYUHYpZDfYQ_LTyfLdK1jGic3tjn-Bc_hwv6ed9AUJD4I2f6pSSnKj4Ddhs6WjpX04udVAjy1r_mgWNJBRsBch3NdOQ/s320/IMG_0022.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
If the girls just emailed the recipe to me, I copied it into a word document and then I changed up some of the fonts so that many of the pages looked different. and of course each recipe included the name of the girl who sent it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs8VBcXdZjVkDZzFRvE4aN6sI94BlxM583a0b16gUi00NII4AXMDz7p2rAE5fjnW7eG7LFets63AqpVEKyQXQ9AXugcJ3W7g_D_95uOkp17az05W-Ra4dAk0RQk6Kn2BRaZ1iz0JBGFxY/s1600/IMG_0023.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs8VBcXdZjVkDZzFRvE4aN6sI94BlxM583a0b16gUi00NII4AXMDz7p2rAE5fjnW7eG7LFets63AqpVEKyQXQ9AXugcJ3W7g_D_95uOkp17az05W-Ra4dAk0RQk6Kn2BRaZ1iz0JBGFxY/s320/IMG_0023.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
I found this super cute paper too! Had to use it! Inside of the back cover.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrMdd1htWkqD57Lz7EdEhiYVpd9fuHG_a-lDVkGflzAUhXQwo-_GuDeZisNX-MgLCWxInp6z0oa7VTpzwGwtX1BbziZhZxlE3pbbh3rLP0bAHgoqseQj7bFMd6IjlZbhXMFN5sjLiarcc/s1600/IMG_0024.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrMdd1htWkqD57Lz7EdEhiYVpd9fuHG_a-lDVkGflzAUhXQwo-_GuDeZisNX-MgLCWxInp6z0oa7VTpzwGwtX1BbziZhZxlE3pbbh3rLP0bAHgoqseQj7bFMd6IjlZbhXMFN5sjLiarcc/s320/IMG_0024.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
And then the back cover matches the front.<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDnvbdBRQue8Vyo01N21HY3HOlIRRuMbJcTdvTs0dM3tYYDs7ITAd91xvLQzEh9N5EIA-9kcE1HfLZBOMKHnDiLnIWhEu0EPEsO-4rpdeIXjoTnlWyewZQ0wMb6YF6Rq0qiXIWDz3JzBo/s1600/IMG_0025.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDnvbdBRQue8Vyo01N21HY3HOlIRRuMbJcTdvTs0dM3tYYDs7ITAd91xvLQzEh9N5EIA-9kcE1HfLZBOMKHnDiLnIWhEu0EPEsO-4rpdeIXjoTnlWyewZQ0wMb6YF6Rq0qiXIWDz3JzBo/s320/IMG_0025.JPG" width="240" /></a><br />
<br />
I had it bound and covered with clear plastic at FedEx Kinkos for only $4. Sweetness.<br />
<br />
I of course did my favorite scrapbooking technique on the covers and embellishments... antiqueing with ink. No clue how to spell antiqueing.<br />
<br />
My friend was super excited about the cookbook! I was so happy to bless her and her new husband in the kitchen! And now I have a plethora of awesome looking recipes saved in my email :) Hoping to try some new ones soon!Kelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15105225551414964624noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6084373234857005468.post-72752516051737887412012-05-11T20:26:00.002-05:002012-05-11T20:26:55.575-05:00An Attempt to Blog... Again<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well... not sure what happened... I was doing so well- blogging, taking photos, blogging. and then, Nothing. Sorry. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, today is my first day of summer break. And after some sweet encouragement from dear friend Sarah... here I am! Thanks Sarah! Get ready for a lot of random and way overdue posts...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A Classroom Lamp</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I've always had a table lamp in my classroom. Just makes it look home-y. Is that a word? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well I inherited a plain white lamp years ago from another teacher. I immediately painted the base blue and then hot glued some dangly sequin ribbon to the lamp shade. (apparently "dangly" is not a word according to spell check. Spell check did not consult me. I disagree.) Don't have a picture of that lamp. It was like that for a few years. and it was cute. But time for a change. The white shade had gotten dirty and was not cleanable.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br />So- I found some fabric scraps, copied an idea I saw on one of my favorite blogs (<a href="http://megduerksen.typepad.com/whatever/2012/01/random-of-prettiness.html" target="_blank">Whatever</a>) and grabbed my hot glue gun... here she is...</div>

I loved it! Made me happy all spring! Ty did not love it! He was super glad to see it go into my car and go to school. Definitely a "kid friendly" or "classroom" lamp. or a craft room. Could be super cute in a craft room.<br />

Yay! one blog post done!! :)Kelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15105225551414964624noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6084373234857005468.post-10658043205206457012012-02-08T05:00:00.000-06:002013-08-24T21:24:45.833-05:00Pottery Barn Inspiration<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Years ago I started noticing in Pottery Barn catalogues how they would have entire book cases full of backwards books. So that the side with the pages was facing forwards.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I always liked how it looked, but I also like seeing which books I have on my shelf. So I never knew how to incorporate this.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's a bedroom from the current Pottery Barn catalogue, notice the books in the background- </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
backwards, and the look is so soothing</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNxrCLjQWgjsQOQcS3QJfiXLMwnMqOcIaE1l8SZOVm1vSYHfRxgRCbdTuwHklv_31s8HYnE-NJoabGt7PO0o8o49JYDqbe0ITwEFsG91_bMBqcVL80iaI1PKdBN1kc7HVeKjptbByEzl8/s1600/pottery+barn+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNxrCLjQWgjsQOQcS3QJfiXLMwnMqOcIaE1l8SZOVm1vSYHfRxgRCbdTuwHklv_31s8HYnE-NJoabGt7PO0o8o49JYDqbe0ITwEFsG91_bMBqcVL80iaI1PKdBN1kc7HVeKjptbByEzl8/s320/pottery+barn+2.jpg" width="243" /></a></div>
Here's another one... all of the books piled to the side of the couch and under the table are angled so that we see the pages. again- much more calm looking that all of the different colors.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigpuhZpX3U6ChSEu9a0C00LB9vERkStD_GbbvHzFUkd1d3SFbgju_Hza0yoQyTaWNhJ0UdGJ9ZdNupQRbiPN8gcoycRfB_9tEx3CiMEM4KQa4EfsM5P4CZ5GzPdkxGTjMWQ73i2XHg1Nw/s1600/pottery+barn.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigpuhZpX3U6ChSEu9a0C00LB9vERkStD_GbbvHzFUkd1d3SFbgju_Hza0yoQyTaWNhJ0UdGJ9ZdNupQRbiPN8gcoycRfB_9tEx3CiMEM4KQa4EfsM5P4CZ5GzPdkxGTjMWQ73i2XHg1Nw/s320/pottery+barn.jpg" width="243" /></a></div>
This picture is not pottery barn (well not that I'm aware of), but it is REALLY similar to the original Pottery Barn picture that I noticed all of the backwards books in. Don't you love all of the creams and whites?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHB51Cmrslq8uXPhrohM8vjKgBRrfbs8_tmBKGERo8U9ovM8azsy_PT63vUfTUvqQCfgU82QRoajTQ2DDQWtOnLu-gx7iGG2Al4QA5gGVtLTl_7H-jhS2p2DTXiRMraYgek-r0Ywv0nvA/s1600/backwards_books.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHB51Cmrslq8uXPhrohM8vjKgBRrfbs8_tmBKGERo8U9ovM8azsy_PT63vUfTUvqQCfgU82QRoajTQ2DDQWtOnLu-gx7iGG2Al4QA5gGVtLTl_7H-jhS2p2DTXiRMraYgek-r0Ywv0nvA/s320/backwards_books.jpg" width="304" /></a></div>
I recently heard Genevieve Gorder on "Dear Genevieve" explain that when you are styling bookcases that seem too crazy and loud, take it down to just one color. That becomes super calm. So then add in one more color for interest, but not too chaotic. Or go full color for a big statement. But basically she was saying (in much more eloquent words), that the number of different colors affects the feel of the bookcases. Less colors = soothing and calm, more colors = expression and big statement (but maybe chaotic if I am the one laying things out)<br />
<br />
And here... I love how the old books make a statement with their yellowed pages.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_88V8AsrmwT8RuoCp9-r6r5JE7AYjv5WNrg1auZLFpHeZhAnx_KUBXWENeyH9Bv6Dduj4uI_Nn1akZ7ytJIqFn2xEEKSHivFY0gyRIe-AtmQ9h4mSVmK5MNp1xLDN9uKRTll9QJxFWQg/s1600/backwards+books+2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="254" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_88V8AsrmwT8RuoCp9-r6r5JE7AYjv5WNrg1auZLFpHeZhAnx_KUBXWENeyH9Bv6Dduj4uI_Nn1akZ7ytJIqFn2xEEKSHivFY0gyRIe-AtmQ9h4mSVmK5MNp1xLDN9uKRTll9QJxFWQg/s320/backwards+books+2.png" width="320" /></a></div>
So when I was trying to find things in the house to style and fill our bookcases... I found a bag of books that we intended to take to Half Price books and sell to them. We clearly did not care about the books, so I thought, "Books we don't like or want?? GREAT! I can put them BACKWARDS on the shelf!" And so I did.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I also have a stack of newer books in a different spot on the shelf, but I forgot to take a picture of it. and I like this stack better. But the idea is the coloring. I love it. Thanks Pottery Barn for a fun idea!Kelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15105225551414964624noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6084373234857005468.post-52792577692206319352012-02-07T05:00:00.000-06:002013-08-24T21:24:58.130-05:00Organization Obsession<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of my favorite boards to post to on pinterest is my Organization Obsession board. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Because I'm obsessed with being organized.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sometimes I over-organize things so much that it becomes a burden to keep up with and thus leads to many piles around the house.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I realize this defeats the purpose. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But I love the thrill of coming up with a good "system."</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Even when that system becomes hard to maintain.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And eventually I may revamp the system into a workable system.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is success.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So enough talk... on to my current favorite organized spot in my house...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
my children's books "library."</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6jqUR49RTz8I-Iv5ky65DDXHzAPyMIHk5_afxtNKzDZM7clybwPgjdO25JcWxQWtAdAtJCSXhyphenhyphenPFoSspEta29-55e-6N3LVRj-0Z2EsFav_fHUURm3VGtER34HKXPUAIvFiybqmBq3AM/s1600/IMG_9564.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6jqUR49RTz8I-Iv5ky65DDXHzAPyMIHk5_afxtNKzDZM7clybwPgjdO25JcWxQWtAdAtJCSXhyphenhyphenPFoSspEta29-55e-6N3LVRj-0Z2EsFav_fHUURm3VGtER34HKXPUAIvFiybqmBq3AM/s320/IMG_9564.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You see, as a teacher you buy a lot of books for your classroom. And over the years, I've collected a lot of books.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But, my new classroom is shared with a 7th grade class on Monday, Wed, Friday.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So there is not room for all of my books.</div>
Instead I take in a stack of books that are seasonally appropriate and put them on my 2 shelves.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
the rest stay at home.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So last August, I organized my books by season or topic and put up dividers, now I can quickly reach in and grab the books I need.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQO_BVp4oVNzwY_IMlksLMU3E3Qrf2LISooI812w8TTrDeWqcj_PUOknk9bTK1QZbDVOvDc0iF1DkfET2HdvyMx-pG7ib4_8fx9nfv7uDZFlfpva6wHyy6xh-elGxmeIYEai6WoAXHw6I/s1600/IMG_9563.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQO_BVp4oVNzwY_IMlksLMU3E3Qrf2LISooI812w8TTrDeWqcj_PUOknk9bTK1QZbDVOvDc0iF1DkfET2HdvyMx-pG7ib4_8fx9nfv7uDZFlfpva6wHyy6xh-elGxmeIYEai6WoAXHw6I/s320/IMG_9563.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I love this system. And seeing it every time I open the closet makes my heart happy! <br />
Oh to be organized!Kelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15105225551414964624noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6084373234857005468.post-55459656586133159152012-02-06T05:00:00.000-06:002013-08-24T21:25:08.239-05:00Canton Find<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We spent Saturday in Canton, TX shopping at the First Mondays Trade Show. First Mondays is a HUGE flea market that happens the weekend of the first Monday of the month. It runs Thursday- Sunday. Nope, not open on Monday at all. Very confusing.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But anyway, we love going. You can find literally everything under the sun there. Literally.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And it's spread out over many acres, so you get a lot of walking in. Which makes you feel good about the fact that you ate fries for lunch and sampled a million different sweets along the way.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Okay, so onto my Canton find. I was on the hunt to dress up this window above the tub in our master bathroom. (Sorry for the dark picture, the sun was streaming in and I just couldn't fix it with my point and shoot camera). </div>
Before...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsVPsNcbT4flcBvmtwNSGvchjcn6itSjD1a5EPAKHEyvamnNwRwR2LgQRonuLQal8hxgWKgYcmYf5x_yHtYiNva9L_N5v6AWZHh-bJL9X1tl930HyOzbathOUURN8z5zTlMrUp91e4xDE/s1600/IMG_9627.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsVPsNcbT4flcBvmtwNSGvchjcn6itSjD1a5EPAKHEyvamnNwRwR2LgQRonuLQal8hxgWKgYcmYf5x_yHtYiNva9L_N5v6AWZHh-bJL9X1tl930HyOzbathOUURN8z5zTlMrUp91e4xDE/s320/IMG_9627.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCVFryzNMr83D90VSq_yaxiJqh3l6uhfznjDfjnyGE2agSDVf_xigc9r4Vx6uPqRVt4sMFO7bo1PJg_7AafANeXUIo0_ooJNgo6wwxS2GJ2KACiaEP-tCrx356q5ayZauNSavM2H1TDyo/s1600/IMG_9630.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCVFryzNMr83D90VSq_yaxiJqh3l6uhfznjDfjnyGE2agSDVf_xigc9r4Vx6uPqRVt4sMFO7bo1PJg_7AafANeXUIo0_ooJNgo6wwxS2GJ2KACiaEP-tCrx356q5ayZauNSavM2H1TDyo/s320/IMG_9630.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I found these awesome iron and wood decoration things (no clue what to call them).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I loved the idea of bringing some wood onto this wall since the mirrors on the opposite wall are dark wood as well. Feels more balanced now. Plus dresses up the window.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
The distressed paint even has some blues in it... LOVE!</div>

I'm hoping my old blog posts still show up. But I have no clue if they will. I also said I would change blog spots on February 1st, but today is February 4th and the only reason I'm changing is because a dear friend emailed and said "Are you changing? I can't find your new blog." <br />
<br />
Yup- I set a reminder on my phone. I added it to my daily calendar. I got both reminders. And I did nothing on February 1st. And then I just forgot. Hadn't even crossed my mind since I ignored the reminders. Awesome.<br />
<br />
So thank you dear faithful friend! I need someone like you in my life!Kelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15105225551414964624noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6084373234857005468.post-5516570803534602052012-01-26T05:00:00.000-06:002013-08-24T21:25:20.393-05:00Around the House: Scraps from the Past<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Some items we found during our home addition project...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The framed wall paper pieces were on the original plywood- 1938 wall paper... so pretty!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This whiskey bottle was found in the walls of our home when we tore the siding off.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Looks like some of the original workmen in 1938 were drinking on the job! Explains why the house tilts and slants :)</div>

The weather may not actually be cold here in Texas yet.. (well we get random days of cold here and there). But I chose an "icy, snowy" color palette for my tablescape anyway.</div>

I've used most of these pieces in the past... but I still love how it feels brand new each January.<br />
<br />
Toille tablecloth from Williams Sonoma, blue placemats NEW from Homegoods, silver chargers from Michaels, white dishes from TJ Maxx, teal napkins from Crate and barrel, and clear square napkin rings (lucite maybe?) NEW gift from mom (don't know where they were purchased)<br />

So those are my January tables. Not really feeling up to Valentine's tables... so think I'll skip that this year and head into spring next.</div>

I mentioned last week that I'd get back to the big square pillow, so here I am.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZCAqvobj_E02sCN8LAI_uZkSYOu5qgt_QnWM0fpP7R-B7XGP4Q6PODUjbnP5ApJ5pEgYN3YIOFjzRhrCoR1CICT1uu-Zoi561vOloVbsbUqXk4tvEvInHmsRA7RhYxwdECUknLGmTC04/s1600/IMG_9518.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZCAqvobj_E02sCN8LAI_uZkSYOu5qgt_QnWM0fpP7R-B7XGP4Q6PODUjbnP5ApJ5pEgYN3YIOFjzRhrCoR1CICT1uu-Zoi561vOloVbsbUqXk4tvEvInHmsRA7RhYxwdECUknLGmTC04/s320/IMG_9518.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This pillow is awesome! It is made from old sails from a sail boat! So it could totally be outside or actually on a boat! But I love it in my window seat! Apparently sails get old and need to be replaced. So this talented lady uses the old sails (which would normally get thrown away) and makes pillows, tote bags, wine bottle holders, shower curtains, etc. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWXqJOHOgJzaQ7J1BdTexGoG3fl0m_n3vM-jxpGZf8PxZ0t4Km8a1xl1RGCBvHb4MOR-NXBhCbhgOSCG4fr5z-KwXJw74d07nyC_qcw_V8f_2esBJv7JlH4pWgTKnZKdR-ewyPWXfSbd4/s1600/IMG_9521.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWXqJOHOgJzaQ7J1BdTexGoG3fl0m_n3vM-jxpGZf8PxZ0t4Km8a1xl1RGCBvHb4MOR-NXBhCbhgOSCG4fr5z-KwXJw74d07nyC_qcw_V8f_2esBJv7JlH4pWgTKnZKdR-ewyPWXfSbd4/s320/IMG_9521.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Each pillow comes with the little rope to tie it to the side of the boat. I think it's cute and wanted to keep it on to make me feel like a real sailor :)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Even the back is cool looking.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I also got a tote bag for Christmas... <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiO4LkTbrqIYHkSnOh9GGcLDUFpeyoVxjtiekm8XXePDgJwHF9AorR0NWTV5yl5gy8qIjE2QY5oQiXF3P98aM5870kNMPqf9qnMTyIWBMA4gRMb9Q2cvyNgbK0ll-073vpkTEoSlpu_Qus/s1600/IMG_9557.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiO4LkTbrqIYHkSnOh9GGcLDUFpeyoVxjtiekm8XXePDgJwHF9AorR0NWTV5yl5gy8qIjE2QY5oQiXF3P98aM5870kNMPqf9qnMTyIWBMA4gRMb9Q2cvyNgbK0ll-073vpkTEoSlpu_Qus/s320/IMG_9557.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Here's the other side of it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNdooibfd5i9mMDo9LCcCBvW-iT0NF-jlU80YD5qCpAXN7aDv3XiyZWjByYqfKcKCCPcTz_xHSmfHpmOyOVsWLSYIUiuQDHBTPlzm9xqVVddFiPupJBa11ZRcjdZP4tjGUNpsw_t9K5go/s1600/IMG_9558.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNdooibfd5i9mMDo9LCcCBvW-iT0NF-jlU80YD5qCpAXN7aDv3XiyZWjByYqfKcKCCPcTz_xHSmfHpmOyOVsWLSYIUiuQDHBTPlzm9xqVVddFiPupJBa11ZRcjdZP4tjGUNpsw_t9K5go/s320/IMG_9558.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Each side has a meaning- she uses the flags they use at sea to add meaning to the totes. These mean "Whiskey" or "Needs Medical Assistance." Whiskey actually just means the letter W - but you know how transportation people are, they add words to letters. I just know I like the stars.<br />

She includes a tag with the meaning of the flags AND info about the boat that this sail came from. My tote was from a colgate 26' which raced the Cape Fear up to Baltimore! I have a racing tote! Awesome!!<br />

At one of my bridal showers, all of the guests shared a verse that was meaningful to their marriage. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The one that meant the most to me was Ruth 1:16-17</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you <i>or</i> turn back from following you; for where you go, I will go, and where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people <i>shall be</i> my people, and your God, my God. 17 Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. Thus may <sup class="xref" value="(<a href="#cen-NASB-7145K" title="See cross-reference K">K</a>)">the LORD do to me, and worse, if <i>anything but</i> death parts you and me.”</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I realize this verse was not talking about a marriage relationship, but the idea can definitely apply.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The idea is that my husband and I are now ONE.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Together we make decisions.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Together we go places.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Together we have friends and family.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Together we lodge.</div>
Together we serve the true and living God.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Together.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Nothing but death to part us.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So when I saw these on pinterest....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgXA347elMvyu1CPjHnk3BwwrtdWX4AqRB_RPEMTW1GD_i62P2TPerawNVVIQ_VNNG7P3kP_J8Tl39F7J3YZr16ZoWCOp3g1CTh5mYtfZFz-TinS_F0YlVba0HsTIboeQdaP0KufOSD6Q/s1600/IMG_9527.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgXA347elMvyu1CPjHnk3BwwrtdWX4AqRB_RPEMTW1GD_i62P2TPerawNVVIQ_VNNG7P3kP_J8Tl39F7J3YZr16ZoWCOp3g1CTh5mYtfZFz-TinS_F0YlVba0HsTIboeQdaP0KufOSD6Q/s320/IMG_9527.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had to track them down and purchase them!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Right now they are on our bookcases next to some globes :) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But eventually I envision them right next to the door leading into our bedroom. </div>

Symbolically stating that the two people who live in here "go together."</div>

<br />
I've been getting lots of random readers and viewers from google searches due to our home addition posts. which is awesome! I'm hoping those posts are helpful to others!<br />
<br />
But- I've been thinking about security and privacy.... so I've decided to change the web address for my blog in order to take our names out of the link.<br />
<br />
So- starting February 1st, the blog address will be <a href="http://www.mydailydoseofjoy.blogspot.com/">www.mydailydoseofjoy.blogspot.com</a><br />
<br />
When I make the change, if you type in tyandkelley.blogspot.com, you will find a screen that says "the blog was removed." Please remember, the blog wasn't actually removed, simply the address changed to "My Daily Dose of Joy.blogspot.com" <br />
<br />
Thanks for following me!<br />
Happy ReadingKelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15105225551414964624noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6084373234857005468.post-41163374094945000962012-01-20T05:00:00.000-06:002013-08-24T21:26:04.754-05:00Around the House: Half Bath<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Just off of our kitchen and laundry room we have a tiny little half bath.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I mean tiny. It's kinda shaped like a triangle. It's small. And cute. And nice to have.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love the paint color I chose a few years back, but didn't love the way I arranged the items on the wall. So I spent the last few years collecting new items and frames, and have been saving them up.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was finally ready.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's the big reveal.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Looking in the door.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKKtXWJ8Wa8P5Kn4XuU92t4F8ufZKxNw1F5w9iXvP29RiRHrTLDoa9aqzfqdeyFMT5Jp_J6G9INceuXC_-zZmkB8Uqk7TyGEEUbulHSZQKySWvoP89jfTW5hBYwQny3yUyHkhNgYtVDLw/s1600/IMG_9542.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKKtXWJ8Wa8P5Kn4XuU92t4F8ufZKxNw1F5w9iXvP29RiRHrTLDoa9aqzfqdeyFMT5Jp_J6G9INceuXC_-zZmkB8Uqk7TyGEEUbulHSZQKySWvoP89jfTW5hBYwQny3yUyHkhNgYtVDLw/s320/IMG_9542.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
Still from the door way. One reason I wanted to change things up was so that this precious corner pedestal sink would be the focal point. I love this sink.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I found this mirror at Target and it was the perfect size and shape! And it was on clearance for $20. This is an astounding fact since it took me about 2 1/2 years to find a mirror that fit this space!!<br />
<br />
It did have a black frame, but that's nothing a little white spray paint couldn't fix. The sink does not have a lot of space for a soap dispenser. I found this cute little shelf at Canton, TX First Mondays a couple of months ago and was sold!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzya5eS_Q49nzwVUSBO5JqsQOL-ubDYUunB-m_w2i_jtETWloTJpUtEYXrDgiovD8N6w8GwwmNzgDcB_FSC86443zGqdGTKOhJmhC8H_Rj_h9Itq_UALD76IZhLsiR71j4ehWO40it5b4/s1600/IMG_9543.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzya5eS_Q49nzwVUSBO5JqsQOL-ubDYUunB-m_w2i_jtETWloTJpUtEYXrDgiovD8N6w8GwwmNzgDcB_FSC86443zGqdGTKOhJmhC8H_Rj_h9Itq_UALD76IZhLsiR71j4ehWO40it5b4/s320/IMG_9543.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
Originally this big "old door turned shelf" contraption was hanging above the sink with the mirror on it. I love the mirror and shelf thing together, BUT it totally dwarfed the sink. And I did not like that! I added this fun abstract painting Ty's grandma did to bring in some color!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOG_WiY1dvqt87TLwWr-J8f5N9fP0DdvSU4CD3Z3_dVIXBOdfiy2_vf_slimvk4Cj-9OE9kcPbpaDXagqsp_PwywO2DGDA3NSqTg_U1WkDWxLALC4HvpihvNQAO53hphcXWCqrrjyChz8/s1600/IMG_9544.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOG_WiY1dvqt87TLwWr-J8f5N9fP0DdvSU4CD3Z3_dVIXBOdfiy2_vf_slimvk4Cj-9OE9kcPbpaDXagqsp_PwywO2DGDA3NSqTg_U1WkDWxLALC4HvpihvNQAO53hphcXWCqrrjyChz8/s320/IMG_9544.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
This window goes to the front yard, which is a little awkward when using the bathroom. I purchased some cute material and want to make those fake Roman shades one day. BUT- in the mean time, this painting does the trick for privacy.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

My "old lady" collage of doilies. I love this wall. I saw a framed doily in Anthro years ago and have always wanted to replicate the look. My great-grandma made all of these (well, not the Sawyer one), so it's fun to show them off! I found all of the frames at the Goodwill and spray painted them all. Then I put some dark blue scrapbook paper in the back and put the doily in. I did not use any glue or adhesive because I wanted to protect the doilies and who knows how long I'll like this look.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

A close up... <br />

The Sawyer doily was a wedding gift. It was framed in a very "country" look with hunter green and a brown frame. SO I took it to Hobby Lobby and had them help me "update it" a little. I like how it turned out. The "roses" painting to the left is another of Ty's grandma's.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5fxjobJwzHb8YpajFAauYVMcoFFst3cZNIJWdt0A3tvUhQEa2ImdSOFBj3vB48tTkBVRbvMMckebWS7npOxMU1sc0iOonJEL7j9s_bu9vJyCqp9k7KzxglBxgekZjEV3hBtGEdPQM2YY/s1600/IMG_9549.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5fxjobJwzHb8YpajFAauYVMcoFFst3cZNIJWdt0A3tvUhQEa2ImdSOFBj3vB48tTkBVRbvMMckebWS7npOxMU1sc0iOonJEL7j9s_bu9vJyCqp9k7KzxglBxgekZjEV3hBtGEdPQM2YY/s320/IMG_9549.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This frame didn't come with glass and I didn't realize that until I got home.</div>
So I just sewed the doily onto the paper and glued the paper to the board in the back of the frame. I can easily take it off again if I want to later.<br />
<br />
