Home Addition Complete... Almost

Just when you think it's finished, you turn around and realize "oops, forgot to do that." So there is a constant list of "door stops" "window treatments" "towels" "clean the floors AGAIN" etc.

and I have a lot of decorating and picture hanging left to do... which would help make it more home-y and lived in.

BUT... we are basically finished. We moved home last Saturday (Friday was a fake out, the AC was broken by the siding installers and there was no way we were sleeping here without AC. So Saturday was the big day)

In my attempt to keep these photos in context and "walk" you through the home... this post has gotten quite long. So sit back, grab a cup of coffee, and enjoy :)

We didn't touch the kitchen, living, room, dining room or sun room... so no pics of those right now. Starting in the front of the home, here is what WAS our guest bedroom, but WILL BE an office. It is very unfinished at the moment.

I think I'm going to paint the walls gray (like the guest bathroom) before I move furniture in.

The reason we have not done anything in here yet is because of this...

Yep- what you are seeing is the back of the wall to our middle bedroom. There used to be 2 VERY SMALL closets - 1 for the front bedroom, 1 for the old master (now middle bedroom). We guessed that they backed up to each other. So we took out the door to the middle bedroom and today they cut out the wall. Fortunately we were right and it worked. now we just need to patch up a little bit.

but it is a nice sized closet now :) success!

the middle bedroom (old master, new guest room- is that confusing enough?)

at first glance it seems pretty put together :) but it's not.

Because all of the shelves that are going in the office are being housed in here now.

And there is a lot of stuff in the closet still. My goal is to have this closet totally empty!! We should be able to store everything we need in other places. HOWEVER, I do not have full access to all of my closets yet due to the office closet construction AND general construction stuff (you'll see in an upcoming picture)

Looking down the hallway into the addition :) I love this view (although when I walk back and forth a million times a day as I clean and reorganize I think over and over "this hall is TOOO LONG!"

The hallway begins just outside the door to the middle bedroom.

When you turn down the hall, first on your right you come to my favorite closet- the dish closet :)

Next is the closet that used to be our tub and shower. but it is currently the construction dumping zone. This is the ONLY place that I am letting construction stuff sit in the house right now. BUT I have big plans for this closet - sheet, towels, crystal and silver... and I am ready to organize!!

Next on the right is the shelf area. These are obviously not decorated yet. But I love how they fill the space and can't wait to display my favorite photos and knick knacks here :)

OH! and I just thought about Christmas decorating! I can do so much here! Maybe even use my little village that I haven't used in years!! SO FUN!!

since this hallway is so long and quite dark, I bought my first night light. I think it's too cute and will help visitors find the bathroom in the dark.

The guest bath!

Love the gray and yellow combo! It happened by accident - my original plan was gray and blue. but I like it!

The door knobs may be one of my favorite details of the addition. I wanted old crystal knobs- but they don't come in "standard" size for new doors- so that would be super complicated. I found a website (look in the attic) that makes door knobs to the current standard size, but replicates old time looks. LOVE IT!! I chose a different knob for basically every door :)

I went with a standing toilet paper holder. Just for fun. It's a little annoying to use (it requires two hands), but looks cute. May change it in the future, but fun for now.
Also I'm a big fan of the floor- but I'm finding it scratches rather easily. Not my favorite feature.

Love the "parachute" shower curtain with the gray 6x6 tiles. I have found I'm a real fan of plain white shower curtains with LOTS of texture!

Moving on down the hallway.... enter our bedroom!!

First is the "office/crafting nook". Oh- you are right. it's not there yet. But eventually there will be a desk and large "pantry" for storage of everything crafty.

Growing up, my best friend had an "art closet" in her basement. Her mom had it completely organized and there was every paint, marker, crayon, scissor, hole punch, etc you can imagine. It was my favorite. and I've always envisioned having one of my own. Yes for my kids one day, but also for me!! and my dream is almost a reality :)

The door knob to our room.

Looking into our room from the crafting area :)

Looking here it looks finished - it's not. I have curtains and rods to hang. and lots to do on the other side of the room :) But at least we can sleep here comfortably!

Yes, this corner. On it's way. but so incomplete. Currently it is holding boxes of things I need to go through and find a place for. However, I plan on having a large chair and a half and ottoman to create a reading corner. I have a side table in the garage I can use and maybe even a lamp!! Just need a big comfy chair!

The bay window! Needs roman shades and a cushion. I am meeting with the seamstress tomorrow for measurements and then off to the fabric store!

However, the past 2 nights have been filled with HUGE storms- full of LIGHTNING! and let me just say, this open bay window makes it pretty scary.

Oh that's right... we also need to finish the seat! Need to put in hinges and put the covers back on. Right now I'm hiding my curtains and other stuff in here. You can't see it unless you stand right over it, so it helps the room feel more put together :)

I put up this cross today. I love it. We've had it in our room for years, my mama bought it for me. So happy to have it up again :)

The dresser... which is NOT full of clothes anymore. I have a few things in here. But since our closet is massive (pics coming up), we almost don't need our dressers! Yay!!

On the left is the doorway to the hallway and on the right is the doorway to the bathroom.

Our closet is directly behind the dresser, in the space between the hall and bathroom.

The bathroom!! A real master bathroom connected to our bedroom!! WOW!

door knob (it's the little things in life )

the finished floor! This was a bit problematic... but in the end, I LOVE IT!! and am so happy with it!!
looking at the tub... I need towels for that bar... hmm...maybe tomorrow. Love the cross from my dear friend and teaching partner!! and love having little things sitting next to the tub :)

The shower!! glass just went up 2 days ago. It is stunning. Based on the glass man's advice, I cleaned it with RainX today hoping that will help the water just run right off. We'll see.

YES- need to change the shower head!! We have a pretty one that matches, but we had to put this yucky one on for the inspections (had to be 1.5 GPM, dumb inspection rules)

LOVE having candles by my tub- feels so grown up!

Ty's vanity (mine looks the same, but has stuff sitting on the counters)
another view of the shower

inside the shower! Can't wait to take a shower in here!!

close up of the cool shower handle. Love that it looks "old"

toilet room!

The linen closet. This took me a couple of hours to figure out and get right- it's hard to know where the best place for each item is. So I'll live with this for awhile and see if it flows the way I anticipate.

Looking out from the toliet room. There's our closet in the middle! Those cute knobs can from Hobby Lobby.

The Closet. Need I say more?

My side.

My jewelry area

Ty's side ( I love his whole shelf unit of t-shirts on the right. This guy loves tshirts!)

Last but not least... my shoes. Throughout this whole closet installation process (my father-in-law and I did this together), my FIL kept asking me if I had enough shoes. I think he was making fun of me :) and the answer was always "NOPE!"

And that is the end of our tour!

I do have a couple of tablescapes I did this week instead of clean the floors for the 90 millionth time. So I'll post about those soon :)

Kelly!! I think I literally had to wipe the drool from my chin after seeing your master bedroom/bathroom and CLOSET!!! Fabulous!!! Brian's the same with T-shirts. We could use a closet for just those. :) Love it all. Especially the doorknobs. I might just have to swing by next time we're in town. :)
