The other day I was having my kinders write their whole alphabet in lower case letters. This is a difficult task for some of them.
One little girl came up and said, "Mrs. Sawyer, how do you spell men?"
"How do you think?" I replied, since that is a word she should be able to sound out.
She shrugged her shoulders.
Then I asked, "Why do you want to know?"
"You know.... l m MEN O P."
Oh yes, of course! I couldn't even correct her and break her heart and tell her that she doesn't even really know her alphabet, so I just said, "You'll figure it out."
