When Driving

(a short story inspired by the "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" Books)

When driving... don't try and take off your rain jacket.

Because if you do, you might run your tire against a curb.

And when that happens, your tire might bust.

And you'll have to pull into the first parking lot you see.

And it will be in a bad neighborhood of town.

But then you will pray for protection. And five minutes later, 2 nice men dressed in coats and ties will come out and wait for your husband.

And they each smoke a cigarette, they'll decided they're tired of waiting.

So they will change your tire for you.

But your spare tire will be flat.

And it will be perfect timing that when they finish, your husband and AAA will show up.

So the nice gentlemen will leave and let AAA take over.

But of course, AAA's compressor will be broken and he cannot pump up your flat spare.

So you will carefully drive across the road to a scary car shop.

And the nice AAA man will convince the guy to fill your tire with air.

then you will spend the evening getting a new tire at Sam's, aimlessly wandering the aisles, instead of working out and eating dinner.

And when you're finished and it's raining, you won't take off you rain jacket while driving!

Accident

I know I know, I owe you pictures of the fabulous wedding weekend in Santa Fe. They are coming! I have written about 4 posts in my head, but have not uploaded pictures yet. So in the mean time...

This just happened...

student: "uh oh! um. um. um. I had an accident."
me: "Okay, go to the bathroom."

Student walks straight to his backpack.
I walk over to him, "Did you pee or poop?"
Student, "well, I pooped in the bathroom, but didn't wipe good. I have poop in my underwear."
me: "okay. I'll give you a ziploc for your dirty undies."

I discreetly take him the ziploc. He then proceeds to walk back to his seat and all through the classroom holding up his undies and the empty ziploc. Everyone starts looking. Someone says "Ewwww.' I reply, " it's just undies. everyone wears them." (seriously, I say these kinds of things at work.)

me "sweetie, go to the bathroom."
student then blushes, hides the undies behinds his back and walks to the bathroom.

He comes back in carrying his dirty undies in the ziploc and sits back down at his chair. I tell him to immediately go put those in his backpack.

then he says, "It wasn't a lot of poop. I was wrong. It was only a little poop in there."

Oh my goodness. i love kindergarten.

Bathroom Mirror Update

Remember when I went to Canton to buy a bathroom mirror and came back with a cool wall hanging?? And then I found a mirror at Marshall's? well, only a month later, and I finally got around to putting it together.

looks good doesn't it?
Except for in the back. Uh Oh! The nail was coming through too far. It would have hit the wall. Good thing I had a thick towel underneath it as I was screwing in the screw. I could have really done a number on my wood floors. Whew. My heart skipped a beat when I first picked it up and saw the screw sticking out!
So after another trip to the hardware store... (seems like I have to go multiple times for any 1 project.) We have this on our wall....

And a few other decorating touches in the bathroom. Cute garden basket from hobby lobby with reading material. (the Sein-Language book is my fav)

The cute little basket to hold extra toilet paper.

And I'll leave you with one more view of my new mirror. I'm so proud of the fact that it's actually on the wall now! yea!! My bathroom is complete!
Wait a minute... no it's not. I need to hang some cute decorations and put up some curtains or shutters or something. but at least it has a mirror.

Oh, is that who that is??

She was working so hard on her painting.

She looked up long enough to tell me, "I'm painting God. And look, there's His woman!"

How Many Times?

As I followed the other kindergarten class through the hallways, I watched the 2 girls in the back jump down the stairs and ramps. This has happened many, many times before.

I said, "Girls, do not jump down the stairs! How many times do I have to tell you that?"

One little girl replied matter-of-factly, "five."

"Okay, well I've already told you six times. So knock it off."

Five. That is the new magic number for how many times it takes to obey. Lovely. Now I know.

OH NO!

So today I had jury duty. I won't go into a long bit complaining about it, you all know the drill. And honestly, I wouldn't mind it if it had been during the summer. But getting a class ready for a sub is a big deal- and the work that comes after a sub is a bigger deal.

But anyways, I digress. Here's my good kinder story...

I gave my class a big speech Monday afternoon about having a sub and what that would be like. But they are in kindergarten. So I decided to email their parents too. I emailed them all, told them I had jury duty and asked for them to please remind their children that Mrs. R would be taking care of them all day and to be good.

One mom from my class is a prosecutor here in town, so I was really hoping to end up in her courtroom- I was certain that would mean a quick dismissal. Unfortunately that did not happen.

I did see her today though, and this is what she told me happened last night at her dinner table:

Student "Mom, tomorrow we are going to have a sub."
Mom "I know. Mrs. Sawyer told me. She is actually going to be at mommy's work."
student (in tears now) "Mom, are you going to put Mrs. Sawyer in jail? I don't want her to go to jail!!"
mom "no, she is not going to jail."
Student "Dad, is she telling the truth??"

Oh I love my kinders!! And boy do they love me!! turns out this sweet little one only knows that mommy's job is "to put people in jail." So I understand how she could think I would be going to jail if I was at mommy's work.

I can tell you one person who will be happy to see me at school tomorrow!
(and the 2nd most excited about me going back tomorrow is my courageous sub! Thank you!!)
