learning to post pictures

June 30, 2007 - our wedding party- quite large I know, Ty is everybody's best friend.

A close up on Ty and I. What a fun day that was! I loved our flowers!! yay!

Here's a picture from our 1 year anniversary trip to Playa Del Carmen. We went with some great friends of ours, Ben and Parris. I'd love to go again, but Ty got sick and has sworn off Mexico. Bummer.

well- posting pictures is easy after all. I'd post more, but that's all I have on this computer at work and I have a class starting in 2 minutes. Oh wait- I guess I'm not supposed to do this on work time, dont' tell!

What Dress to Wear?

Last Friday night we had the honor of eating dinner at Ty's boss' house.

At school that day, some 1st grader mentioned "let's have a fiesta!" So I told them I was going to a fiesta that night and didn't know what to wear. I told them it was at my husband's boss' house. Immediately a little 1st grade boy yells "wear a black sparkly dress!"

A black sparkly dress? Wowzers - that is very formal. But I did not say that. I said "okay, great idea." But a little girl informed me I should wear a pink dress, someone else said red, and the big debate began.

Finally a different little boy yells above the crowd "wear an anaranjado dress!" (remember, this is Spanish class- he is a trouble maker - he was trying to impress me!) I said, "Great idea, but I don't have an anaranjado dress." (that means orange, I'm curious- does anyone have an orange dress?) His response was quick "then go buy one." Oh okay, I'll add that to my things to do today.

Now, no one did ever agree on what color my dress should be. But the entire class did agree it should be a dress and it HAS to be sparkly!

I wore jeans and a black sleeveless top. My class will be very disappointed.

Kids Say the Darndest Things

I have the great priviledge of teaching Kindergarten - 4th graders, and believe me, I hear some funny things.

I have this one particularly hard class- full of talkers, socializers, class clowns, and hyper children, oh and a few well-behaved ones too. Now, we start every Spanish class with calendar time and I call on different kids to tell me the date, day of the week, season, and the weather. I don't know why, but everyone wants to tell the weather- it is the favorite!! (which I think is dumb because the weather in Dallas doesn't change much- it is soleado basically every day- sunny).

anywho... just as I asked "¿Como esta el tiempo?" one little boy decided to tell me it's funny when I smile because my mean voice and my smile are so different. I didn't really know what that meant, but I asked the class "Am I your meanest teacher?" A few said "Yes" (I expected that). But one little talker said "No, Mrs. Sawyer, you are my NICEST teacher!"

Of course he immediately won the award of getting to tell me the weather. I said "Oh thank you! Since you were so nice, please tell me today's weather!" And at that comment a little girl in the back raises her hand and yells out "why can't I do the weather? You are my 5th nicest teacher!"

5th nicest teacher.... how many teachers does she have? homeroom, me, music, computer, art, pe... that's it- she has 6 teachers- and I am 5th nicest! wow- what a compliment.

I love Fridays!!

Welcome to my home on the world wide web. I am excited to share my life and experiences with you through this little blog. Enough about that...

As I write, I am sitting at my desk in my freezing classroom. I have on long pants and a long sleeve t-shirt, plus a fleece and a blanket. I do not have control of the temperature in here- there are two possible settings, Antarctica or off. Yesterday I asked for it to be off, I was sweating by the end of the day. So today, we're back to Antarctica and I am in a blanket. Lovely. Did I mention I live in Dallas and it is actually 90 degrees outside?

Today is Friday... my favorite day of the week. For a lot of reasons... and now I'd like to share those with you...

1. the obvious- last day of work

2. date night with Ty

3. soccer games (for the past few months I've been playing co-ed soccer, more to come another day)

4. the start of the weekend

5. center day in class (which means less up front teaching/talking for me)

6. the first day of a weekend trip (not every week, but sometimes :)

7. the day after the new Office episode (which means I can watch it again and again)

8. the beginning of 2 days with more energy and a not sore throat (it's always hurting during the school week)

9. this one is for today only: I will be picking up 9 pairs of pants from the tailors. Yes I said 9. Turns out that for the past 3 years I have been purchasing pants, but have failed to have them hemmed and therefore have never worn them. Recently I went through my closet and discovered 9 pairs of pants with the tags of them and decided it was time something be done!
