Too Young

We made sports pennants in class today for our craft. Some of the girls wanted to do cheerleadrs. i can't blame them.
But since around here, the cheerleaders are either for NBA or NFL teams, this is what they think all cheerleaders look like...
She told me, "you can see her belly and those are her boobs."
Awesome. welcome to PreK.

Bible Study Celebration

On a quick break of my never ending home construction...

today was the last day of my 6th grade Bible study before summer break. We meet on Wednesday mornings at 7:00 am- those are some dedicated girls!! LOVE THEM!
This year we focused on the Names of God. It is a good study- but we spent half of the year figuring out their new middle school sports schedule and had to constantly adjust until we figured out Wednesday mornings work well.

So overall... I'm excited to have a more consistent study time with them next year, but am so thankful for our sweet time together! Love that they share with me!

Today we celebrated with a YUMMY breakfast!!

Here's a few of them! (a few were late today...Mavs game last night kept them up or something)
I will really miss these girls this summer- good thing they all LOVE to text!! ha!

More Tile

Last night I ran by the house after Bible study... and here's what I saw!!

grout in the shower! LOVE the contrast!! and the floor is down in the guest bath!! (no grout there yet, will be a light gray)

Could NOT be happier with this floor!! LOVE IT!!

The master bathroom.... grout in the shower. The linen color of the grout gives a subtle contrast and I love it!! I think they need to touch up around these niches, but I am love it so far!

floor is down in the shower... my inspiration for everything! BASKETWEAVE!

can't wait to shower there every day!!

close up of the basketweave... with the border for the "area rug" on the main part of the floor

THERE IT IS!!!

how cool is that?? So it will be surrounded by the same tile that is on the tub deck and the shower bench- a crema marfil "marble" (really it's porcelain made to look like marble).

next time I see it... it should be finished!! WOWZERS!

Tile Sneak Peek

Well... progress is happening!!
The can lights finally work- so you can really see the colors on the wall now!!

and they are tiling!! as of yesterday, they finished the shower tiles. Today they are working on the floors. and they still need to grout. but it is happening!!

I LOVE the blue even more now!!
crown molding in the bed room.

the bench in the shower. the top of the bench is crema marfil (that's a cream color). It is actually porcelan tile that is dyed to look like marble. awesome! The grout is going to be "linen" to match the crema marfil, so it will just blend in. But the subway tile is pure white, so the linen will stand out and you will be able to see the lines of the tile. Right now there is no grout and the lines are almost black looking- so it will be more subtle than the pictures.

The guest bath... gray 6x6 tiles. These will get a white grout, again for contrast. The white square at the bottom is for the soap dish. It arrived cracked. so we are waiting for a new one.

the other side of the gray... this white spot is a for a triangle shelf in the corner.

can't WAIT to see the floors!

House Blessing

Before the hardwoods went down... I wrote some scriptures on the floor boards. I pray a lot as I walk through our addition... praying for our future in this home and our future family. So I decided to just inscribe the blessings into the floor... You can't see it anymore since the floor is down, but I know it's there.
It is on the first floor board as you walk into our new bedroom.
Deuteronomy 6:4-9

"Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the LORD is one! You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they sahll be as frontals on your fforehead. You shall write them on the doorpots of your house and on your gates."

Joshua 24 :15

But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD!

Wood and Paint

I walked into my living room earlier this week to see it looking like this...
Super glad we aren't there now! REALLY wish we would have covered it BEFORE the first thick layer of dust was laid. But better late than never.

This plastic blocks the dining room from the addition area. But it makes it really confusing to me, I constantly walk into that plastic forgetting I have to go around. Duh.

Looking down our hallway.... the wood floors are laid!! they are covered with paper now so they can sit and settle for 10 days before they are sanded and stained. But don't worry, I peeked and took a photo.

Here's a little sneak peek...

bead board going up in the bathroom!! LOVE it!! It was primed in white at the store... we will finish painting it, the trim and the doors all white later. But you get the idea!

Our tub is currently being stored in the master closet. This means 1. our closet is really big. 2. our tub is really big and in the way. the end.

that's where the tub will go. look at how cute the bead board it!!

THE FLOOR!!! it matches the original 1938 flooring perfectly! LOVE!

the doors... lots of doors. the white ones are the original 1938 wooden doors, the unfinished one was made to match. once it's painted you won't be able to tell the difference!

the guest tub... they only textured and primed up to the tub- because above the tub will be tile. big 6x6 gray tiles that I just ordered and absolutely love!!

and here's the view from our old house into the new. eventually it should all look seamless. can't wait!

now for PAINT!!! I have thought and thought and thought some more about the perfect paint colors!! Then one day I went into Sherwin Williams with a reusable grocery bag and filled it with every paint chip that I even remotely liked. I went home, laid them in front of a window and started eliminating.

I narrowed the choices down to about 4 per room. Then I walked into every room of my house looking at the chips in different lighting and next to white cabinets or trim. Then I compared it to other colors in my house- some I like and some I hate- just to make sure the new paint was really what I wanted.

Eventually I just made a decision and threw the rest away. I put all of my choices in an envelope, wrote down which rooms they were for and handed it off to my father-in-law.

NOW... the results...

You can't tell here, but this actually a brown.. you'll see a better pic later. here is the hallway

this is the light gray in the guest bath. Unfortunately there aren't any lights in there yet, so the flash doesn't show it off very well. but i absolutely love it!! I am considering painting the sun room this color now- it is gorgeous!
the master bedroom (same color as the hall)

love it!! feels so happy to me!

this is the same color in my office nook area- but it looks so different based on lighting.
master bathroom- light blue!! calming, serene, spa like.

by the tub. so light and subtle, yet just enough color. the white bead board gives a nice contrast.

I think they are working on painting the trim, doors, and bead board next. They also have to lay hardy backer on the tile floor areas. Then we are getting the lights working and the AC working. Next week (Monday- Wednesday) is tile work.

After the tile is in we can do vanities, tub, glass for shower, toilets, and mirrors.

We are moving along and getting closer!!
